Did You Know...

... that Thomas Hughes had great news live from Becca's Bootie Boogie?

Thomas Hughes back in his 4-way jump suit
posted Jan 23rd, 2010 - The NSL News story on 18 January 2010 brought Becca's 2nd Annual Bootie Boogie at Skydive Sebastian to the attention of the NSL News audience.

The short distance to Sebastian from the NSL headquarters and the people to meet at the event was tempting enough for the NSL News to quickly change the plans for the weekend and make the 2-hour trip south. The NSL News will make the same trip at least two more times this year to cover the meets of the Florida Skydiving League 2010.

The activities were already in full swing when the NSL News arrived in Sebastian. However, Thomas Hughes had a short break between the jumps that he was organizing, and the NSL News used the opportunity to ask him a few questions. He had great news for the 4-way world, as the video of the live NSL Talk shows.

Spaceland Force XP at the USPA Nationals 2009
The NSL Talk first went back to the Dubai Championship where Thomas Hughes competed in Canopy Piloting. The story on 15 January 2010 had mentioned that the 4-way world record holder missed the entry gate in the last round, which cost him the 1st place in the overall rankings and a money slot in Distance swooping. He ended up with a total of $5,000 cash at the end of the meet.

Thomas Hughes confirmed that the reason for the zero in the last round was indeed the missed entry gate, and he explained in the NSL Talk how it happened.

He also provided additional feedback of his trip to Dubai. It still did not take too long before the conversation turned to 4-way competition and his plans with Spaceland Force XP.

XL 2008 lineup at Bodyflight Bedford
The new holder of the 4-way world record for a single round, Spaceland Force XP, silver medalist at the USPA Nationals 2009, plans to continue for two more years, as Thomas Hughes confirmed for the NSL News live in Sebastian. The lineup will be the same as in 2009. The Force is currently working on the schedule for the 2010 season.

It will be a late start, as new father Gary Beyer still has to recover from his shoulder surgery. It will be too early for Gary Beyer and the Force to compete at the World Challenge 2010 or the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2010. Last year, the Shamrock Showdown was the first competition for the new team.

Thomas Hughes will still go to Bedford. He said that XL will have a reunion of the 2008 lineup at the World Challenge. Brian Johnson will be back with the three original XL members, Thomas Hughes, Pete Allum and Steve Hamilton. The 2008 lineup had finished only two single points behind Arizona Airspeed in 2nd place. Brian Johnson could also be a good alternate for Spaceland Force XP at the Shamrock Showdown 2010. He was already the team's alternate at the USPA Nationals 2009...

The NSL News may follow up later with more coverage of Becca's Bootie Boogie.
