Did You Know...

... that the NSL News got stuck in bad weather?

Weather system dumps rain and snow over FL and GA
posted Feb 12th, 2010 - Bad weather does not only have its impact on the actual skydiving events. The NSL News had a false start with the coverage of the Valentine's Meet 2010 this morning.

The travel itinerary included a stop in Atlanta, Georgia. It turned out that this became an unfortunate obstacle, as the big weather system on top of the southeast of the USA dumped a lot of rain and snow on Georgia and Florida.

The NSL News never even had a chance.

The airline had already canceled today's flight to Phoenix and moved NSL News reporter Kurt Gaebel to the same flight tomorrow before he had even arrived at the Orlando airport.

Atlanta forecast for Saturday
NSL News, Skydive Arizona and Airspeed's Craig Girard tried together to find a solution, even if it had required the purchase of a new airline ticket. It did not happen, as there was simply no seat available from Florida to Arizona on Friday.

The NSL News will arrive in Eloy tomorrow early afternoon and then try to catch up as quickly as possible. The weather forecast for the Atlanta area indicates no problem for tomorrow. Nothing should be in the way of the NSL News Blitztrip to Eloy.

One of the main topics at this year's Valentine's Meet is Arizona Airspeed's 20-points and up scoring streak, as the NSL News already reported on 6 February 2010. The competition draw will be posted today at 9 pm ET on the NSL website and at 6 pm in Eloy.

Lice competition draw by Robert Chromy
The Valentine's sequences of the past years have always been challenging for Airspeed. In fact, the reigning 4-way world champions have not managed yet to complete any Valentine's Meet with scores of only 20 points and higher.

The NSL News used the unexpected extra day in DeLand to invite Robert Chromy for a live competition draw, which has already been recorded. The draw is in possession of Meet Director Bryan Burke, and Chief Judge Judy Celaya will hand it out at 6 pm.

Robert Chromy and Kurt Gaebel discussed Airspeed's chances to master the new 10-round draw after it was done. The draw includes two sequences with three blocks, which will most likely be the only serious challenges for Airspeed. Robert Chromy thinks that the world champions will be able to beat these two 3-block sequences and keep the streak alive. The video of the discussion will be posted later.
