Did You Know...

... that the NSL-TV camera followed Airspeed on the path to Round 10?

Arizona Airspeed before Round 10
posted Feb 15th, 2010 - Arizona Airspeed's competition videos at the Valentine's Meet 2010 have already been uploaded with yesterday's story from Eloy. The NSL News continued to collect footage on the only day live at Skydive Arizona, due to the travel problems. After returning to the NSL office in DeLand it is time now to follow up with stories and footage.

The first NSL-TV video clip leads into Airspeed's preparations for Round 10, the jump that stopped the streak of consecutive Airspeed scores of 20 points or higher. Airspeed added nine more rounds to the 26 jumps after the Dubai Championship. The Airspeed record streak of consecutive scores of 20 points and higher now stands at 35 rounds in five competitions.

This NSL-TV clip begins in Airspeed's team room at Skydive Arizona. The 4-way world champions did not have serious direct competition at the Valentine's Meet, and NSL News reporter Kurt Gaebel attempted to create some pressure on the team by testing Airspeed's distraction control skills in a not too serious way...

Thomas Hughes and Eliana Rodriguez with Tunnel Rage
Thomas Hughes, current owner of the 4-way world record for a single round with Spaceland Force, provided help for the NSL News, as he hung out in the Airspeed team room, as well, right before the world champions were called to the plane for Round 10.

He chatted with Airspeed's Point Eliana Rodriguez, who was his team mate in 2000 when they won the USPA Nationals in the Intermediate Class with Tunnel Rage. They had also worked together as wind tunnel instructors at SkyVenture Orlando.

The NSL-TV camera followed Airspeed on their way to the plane, which included a stop at the packing tent where Airspeed videographer Steve Nowak answered a few NSL News questions. The team then went straight to the mockup for an exit practice and a round of dirtdive. That's where the first part of the Airspeed road to Round 10 finishes. The next part will follow up with the final preparations at the boarding area and the first reactions after landing from Round 10.
