Did You Know...

... that three national female teams of 2009 compete at the Shamrock Showdown 2010?

Kaizen at the World Cup 2009
posted Mar 6th, 2010 - The FSL Shamrock Showdown 2010 will also offer a quite interesting competition in the female 4-way category. The first direct confrontation between the French national team Aerokart Deep Blue and the US team Spaceland Blue is already one of the highlights of the competition in DeLand. There is even a third national female team of the 2009 season that will compete in the AAA Class field.

Kaizen represented the United Kingdom officially as the national team at the World Cup 2009 and finished in 4th place with a 12.6 average. It was the first international outdoor experience for the young team.

Pussy Galore then won the UK Nationals 2009 later and three members were sanctioned as the national team for the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010 with a new team. However, Kaizen continues with the same lineup this year and has the Spring Tour with the Shamrock Showdown and the World Challenge 2010 on the team schedule.

First competition at the World Challenge 2008
The Kaizen team career began in 2008 in the AA Class. The World Challenge 2008 was the first competition, and Kaizen finished with a 15.2 indoor average. Ratul Ahmed, Liz Cass, Joanne Hawley and Clara Melia then attended all three meets of the United Kingdom Skydiving League in 2008 (12.3 - 11.0 - 14.5) and placed 2nd at the UK Nationals 2008 with a 14.4 average.

Kaizen then decided to step up into the AAA Class competition already in the second team year. The 13.8 average at the World Challenge 2009 was the first indoor result after learning the complete IPC dive pool. Kaizen followed up with the first outdoor competition in the AAA Class at the UKSL June meet and a 10.8 average.

The United Kingdom did not have a national team in the female category for 2009 when Bodyflight Storm discontinued after winning the gold medals at the World Meet 2008 in France and the UK Nationals 2008. Eventually, the British Parachute Association (BPA) officially sanctioned Kaizen to compete as the UK national team at the World Cup 2009.

First AAA Class meet at the World Challenge 2009
Kaizen still competed at the UK Nationals 2009 in August before traveling to Prostejov in the Czech Republic. The 12.3 average in 9th place was lower than the 14.2 average of the new all-female Storm lineup and Pussy Galore's 16.8 average in 2nd place. However, the UK Nationals 2009 was the qualification event for the World Meet 2010, while Kaizen was already BPA sanctioned for the World Cup 2009.

Kaizen traveled to the Czech Republic a few weeks after the UK Nationals 2009 and finished with the highest AAA Class average (12.6) in the team's 2-year career.

The first meet of the 2010 season will bring Kaizen together with the gold medalist of the World Cup 2009 in the female category, Aerokart Deep Blue, and the silver medalist of the World Meet 2008, Spaceland Blue.

Promising Kaizen scoring progression
Kaizen will then meet Aerokart Deep Blue again at the World Challenge 2010 where the new UK national team, Team Bodyflight, will also show up for the first time this year.

The German team ISB Air will be another top contender in the female category at Bodyflight Bedford's indoor competition. Kaizen competed directly with the German team already at the World Cup 2009.

It will be the second year of Kaizen in the AAA Class, once again with coach Pete Allum. There is no doubt that the Kaizen scores this year will continue with the progression that the team has already shown in 2008 and 2009. The first meet of the Spring Tour begins in two weeks.
