Did You Know...

... that Perris Fury is well prepared for the "Bedrock Circuit"?

Perris Fury at the Valentine's Meet 2007
posted Mar 8th, 2010 - Another world class team is currently getting ready for this year's Spring Tour. Perris Fury has actually reduced the 3-stop tour of the past two years (Valentine's Meet - Shamrock Showdown - World Challenge) to a 2-stop meet trip in 2010 (Shamrock Showdown - World Challenge).

Fury used to travel to Arizona in February to begin the competition season with a visit on Arizona Airspeed's home turf. This year, Fury did not make it to the Valentine's Meet and will open the 2010 season in DeLand, Florida.

It will be the third time that the Perris team competes at the Shamrock Showdown. Fury's first Shamrock visit in 2008 was over after six rounds, as the team's return flight was scheduled too early to complete all ten rounds.

Perris Fury at the Shamrock Showdown 2009...
Fury did not miss all remaining four rounds in a very strong field (Airspeed, France, Canada, Russia's Black Cat, Golden Knights, DeLand Groove, Fastrax), as the weather allowed only the completion of eight rounds for all teams. Airspeed, France Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge and Canada Evolution managed to complete all ten rounds late in the afternoon. Fury was tied in 5th place with a 26.2 average after the six completed rounds.

Fury then traveled to Bedford and completed all ten rounds at the World Challenge 2008. The 26.1 average brought the 3rd place behind Airspeed and XL, one single point ahead of Norway's national team Arcteryx.

Perris Fury came back to DeLand last year and completed all ten Shamrock Showdown rounds, as all other teams did this time. Arizona Airspeed won again, only three points ahead of France (229 - 226), Spaceland Force XP took the 3rd place (220). Fury finished 4th with a 21.4 average.

...and at the World Challenge 2009
Fury did even better than in 2008 at the World Challenge 2009. Only Airspeed scored higher (28.8) than Fury, and the Perris team outscored several world class teams to win the 2nd place, such as Hayabusa Defence, Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge and 2008 silver medalist XL.

Fury will now meet the national teams from France and Belgium at the Shamrock Showdown 2010 once again, the first time after the World Challenge 2009. It will be interesting to see if Fury will also be able to keep up with the gold and silver medalists of the World Cup 2009 at an outdoor competition. All three teams will then travel to Bedford and battle there again.

Fury will be well prepared for the outdoor competition in DeLand, which opens up the "Bedrock Circuit", as Fury's Center Inside Chirs Farina calls this year's spring tour. Fury was training the first two weeks in March.

Indoor preparations for the World Challenge
The California team will go back to Perris for two days after the Shamrock Showdown and then travel early to the United Kingdom. Perris Fury runs a tunnel camp at Bodyflight Bedford on March 26 - 28.

The team will take a few days off after the camp and then come back to train on Wednesday and Thursday before the tunnel competition begins on Saturday morning. Friday will be a Fury day for relaxation.

Fury will then take a short break and come back together in mid April. The Fury 8 project teams have a tunnel camp scheduled at Paraclete XP on April 16 - 18. It will be the first training camp this year for the three 8-way teams that travel to North Carolina.

Christy Frikken with Perris Moxie
Christy Frikken's 8-way team Perris Moxie already completed the team's first tunnel camp at the end of February. Chris Farina said that Fury will probably have five 8-way project teams this year. He added that there are still two open slots in two different 8-way lineups.

Fury Tail Uli Steuwe was also coaching a 4-way team in Raeford while Christy Frikken was working with Perris Moxie. Josh Hall and Chris Farina eventually traveled to Paraclete on the same weekend, and Fury could also add some more tunnel time to the indoor preparations for the World Challenge 2010.

It is a busy time period coming up for Fury, with two of the most exciting and challenging events right at the beginning. The Shamrock Showdown 2010 begins with the first two rounds of 4-way on Friday afternoon, March 19. The three 8-way teams start on Friday morning.
