Did You Know...

... that the Skydive EXPO in DeLand has a very successful start?

Skydive EXPO in DeLand
posted Mar 13th, 2010 - The Skydiving EXPO in DeLand is in full swing, and the NSL partners at CYPRES have been providing a lot of information during the first two days of the new event at their own website.

The NSL News has been busy covering and preparing for the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2010. However, the NSL News camera found some time today to capture live scenes at the EXPO event site, right next to Skydive DeLand.

A TV production of the Shamrock Showdown has recently been added to the chores for the upcoming event, which does not make it much easier to get all the work done. However, it is about time to get the sport to the mainstream media, and the efforts are worthwhile. The first show of the monthly 30-minute "NSL Sports Center" will cover the Shamrock Showdown.

1987 and 1989 world champion Jerome Bunker
The first NSL-TV video of the EXPO presents celebrities who have visited DeLand for the inaugural event. Jerome Bunker was the first 4-way world champion who accepted the NSL News invitation for a live NSL Talk today.

He was a member of the French TAG Team that dominated the 4-way competition world in the mid 80s. The TAG Team won the 4-way gold medals at the World Championships of Formation Skydiving in 1987 and 1989.

All members of the team are still involved in the skydiving community. Jerome Bunker now manufactures parachutes and containers with his own company in Europe. Philippe Schorno is the French national coach for the artistic events. Eric Fradet is in charge of safety and equipment, Frank Mahut is also working for the French federation.

Good times at the EXPO 2010
Thomas Hughes was the next person in front of the NSL-TV camera and represented the most current generation of 4-way competition, as he is holding the 4-way world record for a single round with Spaceland Force XP. He did not even know exactly how many points his team scored within working time at the USPA Nationals 2009...

He had Michael Biederman by his side, who he worked with as an instructor at SkyVenture Orlando when he came into Formation Skydiving competition. Michael Biederman comes back at the Shamrock Showdown 2010 with the strong BLOMP lineup. Thomas Hughes has a player coach lineup, together with his XL team mate Pete Allum.

Last not least, the current 4-way world champions of Arizona Airspeed, Craig Girard and Mark Kirkby, took a few minutes fore some NSL Talk. The NSL TV camera ran out of memory at the end, and the Airspeed members promised to visit again tomorrow.
