Did You Know...

... that the Shamrock Showdown 2010 is over?

Still busy on Sunday: AweZomeness
posted Mar 21st, 2010 - The FSL Shamrock Showdown 2010 is over, and it was most successful in many ways.

The highest number of teams competed on the highest level of current 4-way and 8-way competition in the world. All teams had a great time, especially when the ten rounds were already completed on Saturday. Only a few rounds were left to do for AweZomeness in the A Class.

Skydive DeLand had the highest number of loads and jumps made on one single day in the history of the skydiving center that was opened from scratch by Bob Hallett approx. 30 years ago. The combination of seven rounds of 4-way and the POPS record attempts took care of that record.

NSL TV host: Joey Jones
The 8-way competition was still continued Sunday morning, as it was planned. The weather was different, and the 8-way teams were not able to complete the meet. However, the Golden Knights had the opportunity to do some faster sequences and show more of what they can actually put on the scoreboard at this point in time.

The NSL News will soon catch up with the penalty stories of the Shamrock Showdown 2010. The Golden Knights had already lost six 8-way points Friday morning, which reduced the scores for the already slower sequences significantly.

The Shamrock Showdown 2010 also had some extra spice with the NSL TV production that took place throughout the meet on Friday and Saturday. Several teams and competitors were directly involved when Joey Jones anchored the show live on site.

Final showdown on stage
The final showdown came very late with the final part of the TV production, which was combined with the award ceremony. Teams and competitors had no problem doing overtime, as the meet was already completed. Joey Jones asked the top teams to the stage when they videos of Round 10 were shown for the first time.

There was not really a lot of drama any longer. The French national team, Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge, was so far ahead of the rest of the field, including NMP-PCH Hayabusa in 2nd place, that seven points in Round 10 would still have been good enough to win. France posted another highscore instead with the 27-pointer for P-19-5 and finished the meet with a 24.4 average.

It is now time to catch up with the actual coverage. The video files have been moved to the NSL-TV archives, and the first meet stories with the according competition videos will be uploaded very soon.
