Did You Know...

... that Friday 13 won the first round of the Shamrock Skins Game?

Jerome David (first on right) with his team
posted Mar 28th, 2010 - The French national team Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge added another sole highscore to the records of the FSL Shamrock Showdown with the 21-pointer in Round 6. In fact, France gave away only two rounds (2 and 4), and Round 2 only due to the 3-point video deduction

It is also a fact that France missed the 20-pointer series over ten rounds after joining this elite club at the World Cup 2009. However, the 19-pointer in Round 4 was the only score below 20. Further than that, it was the only score below 21 points.

French national coach Jerome David noticed this first and mentioned it jokingly when the NSL News asked him about the missed 20-point streak: "They skip the 20-point level and move straight up to the 21-point challenge." They missed it in Round 4 where NMP-PCH Hayabusa scored a 22-pointer. The new goal was obviously in reach.

Round 6 was the only 3-block sequence in the 10-round draw and included the slow Block 20 (Piver - Viper) out the door. The other two blocks (16 and 17) were on the faster side though, and it was not a big surprise that France mastered this sequence.

Hayabusa actually completed 20 points in working time and lost one point. Perris Fury's score was corrected from 19 to 18 points. Genesis (-1), Voluntas (-1) and Teiwaz (-1) were the only other teams that had point deductions. It was a relatively peaceful round.

It was not peaceful at all in the A Class competition where DeLand 5 lost the whole 6-point lead in one jump to DeLand Dunamis (12 - 18). The NSL News will get to the A Class competition with videos and a separate story later on.

Other attention was focused on a different goal. Round 6 was the first round of the Shamrock Skins Game. Complete Parachute Solutions (CPS) sponsored this round with $300. The NSL News had introduced the basics of the Skins Game already with yesterday's story.

Friday 13, a new Russian lineup of experienced 4-way competitors, had used the first half of the meet to get familiar with each other in a competition environment and slowly began to post higher scores throughout the second half of the meet on Saturday.

Dmitri Fridman competed with Cross Road in the past years and won some Skins Game money already at the Shamrock Showdown 2009. Cross Road posted a 16.9 average at the World Cup 2009.

Janna Kazakova was a member of the Jet Bats, a Russian all-female lineup that won the silver medals for Russia at the World Cup 2007. She also won a bronze medal with the Russian 8-way team at the World Cup 2009 in the Czech Republic.

Dmitri Kovalev was a member of Ocean 5 in 2008 and posted an 18.2 average at the Russian Nationals 2008. Alexander Tychinsky trained and competed with Extreme.RU and owned the 44-point 4-way world record before Spaceland Force took it last year at the USPA Nationals 2009. He is now also a member of the new Russian 8-way team.

Friday 13's clean 13-pointer for the 3-block sequence in Round 6 won the first round in the Shamrock Skins Game and $300 cash.
