Did You Know...

... that Eyjafjallajökull is causing trouble for Sinapsi?

Polaris with coach Steve Hamilton
posted Apr 17th, 2010 - Four teams made it to Sebastian for a small FSL 2010 April meet.

However, one of the best US teams, SDC Rhythm XP, was competing together with the Norwegian national 4-way team in the female category, Polaris.

Both teams just attended the World Challenge 2010 at Bodyflight Bedford. However, Polaris needs the outdoor competition experience, as the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010 in Russia is coming up soon. Sebastian is Rhythm's home turf throughout the winter season.

The story of this meet is a completely different one though, and the NSL News will go back to Rhythm and Polaris later.

Steve Hamilton at work with Teiwaz Eagle
FSL fun team Teiwaz had two lineups at the Sebastian meet. Teiwaz Eagle competed in the AAA/Open Class, Teiwaz Falcon in the AA Class. The Teiwaz Eagle lineup had Steve Hamilton in the lineup who just competed with XL at the World Challenge. XL is the team that doesn't train and just goes to the indoor meet in Bedford every year. Then they rip up the well trained field, including the Arizona Airspeed world champions...

Steve Hamilton obviously fits well into the Teiwaz lineup too as Teiwaz neither trains nor creeps or talks much about sophisticated techniques. The Teiwaz members are just having fun at the meets.

Steve Hamilton is coaching Polaris and graciously agreed to accept Teiwaz member #63 while he was working with Polaris in Sebastian, the place where it all began for XL, many years ago.

However, Steve is out of luck with his real team, Italy's national 4-way team Sinapsi, one of the top contenders in the world. Sinapsi has a training camp scheduled for next week in DeLand, but it's not going to happen. His former XL team mate Pete Allum got stuck in the United Kingdom first, as the Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland has put almost all air travel between Europe and America on a hold.

Livio Piccolo and Luca Marchioro, the other two Italian team members, had to cancel their travel plans next. They tried to get to Florida from Italy, and it does not work either. This is very bad luck for Sinapsi since the team does not train that much. Each training day is crucial for Sinapsi.

It will still even be challenging for the Italian team to get the whole team under the same umbrella if Eyjafjallajökull continues to cause trouble. The NSL News will soon follow up with a live NSL Talk with Steve Hamilton.
