Did You Know...

... that the Falcon lineup added two new members to the Teiwaz Club?

Prep Experiments: Teiwaz Eagle
posted Apr 20th, 2010 - The April meet of the Florida Skydiving League produced a few new Teiwaz members. The NSL News story on 17 April 2010 mentioned that Steve Hamilton, also known as Stefano Hamiltoni, filled a slot for the Teiwaz Eagle lineup while he was coaching the Norwegian national 4-way team in the female category, Polaris.

Teiwaz Eagle competed in the AAA Class competition and is the lineup that experiments with new techniques and procedures for jump preparations and meet performance. The Eagle lineup in Sebastian was trying to research the difference between using creepers - or not.

In addition, the Eagle procedures included a non-disclosure agreement of any sophisticated flying techniques. Piece partners and team mates were only allowed to exchange any tips after the door had opened on jump run, or communicate anything relevant in freefall. The Teiwaz Eagle members were satisfied with the results of the tested procedures, especially the ones over the age of 50...

Traditional preparations forTeiwaz Falcon
The Teiwaz Falcon lineup was the younger one and followed the traditional procedures for jump preparation. Bob Schindler, Falcon member during the exciting battle with Perris Jimani at the NSL Championship 2009, was guiding two brand-new Teiwaz members through the meet in Sebastian, together with alternating substitutes of the Eagle lineup.

Both Teiwaz lineups were not able to complete all six rounds since Bob Byrne and Karl Schuch filled the 4th Falcon slot, Bob Byrne in Rounds 1 and 2, Karl Schuch in Round 3. The weather situation forced all teams to take a few breaks and caused the incomplete meet for both Teiwaz lineups and Polaris.

Teiwaz Falcon competed in the AA Class competition, as new members Trevor Cedar (64) and Becca Minkin (65) had never done the AAA Class blocks before and were even new to some of the AA Class blocks.

Zero Tolerance Miami at the NSL Championship 2008
Becca Minkin is a passionate 4-way fan and has created the annual Becca's Bootie Boogie, as the NSL News reported on 18 January 2010 and on 28 January 2010. Her events also have the purpose to connect skydivers who would like to join the 4-way community of the Florida Skydiving League. She has not completed her own lineup yet and is still looking out for potential team members.

Trevor Cedar was the Point for Zero Tolerance Miami in 2008 and contributed to the exciting battle with Mile High Mayhem at the NSL Championship (Archives > 2008 > News > Story on 29 November). He progressed very quickly after making his first jump in the summer of 2007, as he was an athlete in other sports before he became a skydiver.

He completed 650 jumps and approx. 15 hours of windtunnel training in his first two years and now has a coaching rating, as well. He has been very excited to be a 4-way competitor ever since, as he expressed last year: "4-way is my true love, and the NSL has given us new skydivers a way to persue our personal dreams."

Rookie Class player coach Trevor Cedar in 2009
His next step was supposed to be the 2009 season with three of his former Zero Tolerance members in the AA Class competrition. Unfortunately, the Miami Synergy plans for 2009 did not materialize, and Trevor Cedar focused mostly on his job as an instructor at Skydive Miami last year.

Eventually, he only competed once when the Florida Skydiving League visited his home turf in Homestead. He guided a local Rookie Class team through the meet as a player coach. The 11.1 average with Zero Tolerance Miami at the NSL Championship 2008 stands for his last competition in the A Class.

He switched to the Tail slot for the 2009 season with Miami Synergy and now showed his newly learned skills in this position with either Bob Byrne or Karl Schuch as a piece partner and with the AA Class blocks. Rumors say that he and Becca Minkin are now negotiating potential team plans...
