Did You Know...

... that the red Brit Chicks jump suits caught attention at the World Challenge 2010?

AAA Class lineup of the Brit Chicks
posted May 17th, 2010 - Earlier NSL News stories after the completion of the World Challenge 2010 covered the situation of the top teams in IPC's female 4-way category, Aerokart Deep Blue and Team Bodyflight. Then the NSL News followed up with the three other all-female teams that competed at the same event.

The story on 10 May 2010 included the competition videos of the first three rounds in this category, and the story on 13 May 2010 followed up with Rounds 4 to 6. The last story also provided an update from Germany where ISB Air has recently been sanctioned as the national team for the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010 in Menzelinsk, Russia.

Today's story provides the judging videos of Rounds 7 to 10 and introduces the second UK team that was a part of the unofficial female competition at the World Challenge 2010, the Brit Chicks.

Fusion at the World Meet 2008 in France
The team name Brit Chicks and the red jump suits were new, however, the team members have been around in the British 4-way community for a while. Laura McLelland and Lynne Murray competed with Fusion for the United Kingdom at the World Cup 2007 in Russia and at the World Meet 2008 in France. Lesley Gale represented the UK in 8-way at the World Cup 2009 in the Czech Republic. Julie Woodrow competed with Team Storm at the UK Nationals 2009.

In fact, Laura McLelland, Lynne Murray and Julie Woodrow were all Storm members at the UK Nationals last year and finished with a 14.2 average in 6th place. The NSL News had introduced the new Storm lineup with the story on 12 April 2009 (Archives > 2009 > News > Search for "Julie Woodrow").

Sarah Smith-Cannon, Bodyflight Storm 4-way world champion of 2008, was the 4th team member of the Storm 2009 lineup, which was supposed to continue the successful Storm tradition.

Team Bodyflight at the World Challenge 2010
Things changed after the UK Nationals 2009 when Pussy Galore, with three other former UK world champions in the female category, Claire "Sparky" Scott, Hannah Betts and Amanda Kemp, plus former Team Elan member Tarnya Hollis, placed 2nd at the UK Nationals 2009 with a 16.8 average.

The NSL News reported in December 2009 that Team Bodyflight was the new UK national team in the female category for 2010. Neither Pussy Galore nor Storm would continued, and Bodyflight Storm was a combination of both teams, Amanda Kemp, Tarnya Hollis and Claire Scott (Alternate) of Pussy Galore, Sarah Smith-Cannon of Storm. Satori's former Center Inside Liz Mathews was a new member.

Storm 2009 members Laura McLelland, Lynne Murray and Julie Woodrow decided to continue without Sarah Smith-Canon and competed with Lesley Gale for the Brit Chicks at the World Challenge 2010.

AA Class lineup of the Brit Chicks
The Brit Chicks were a popular team at the World Challenge 2010 and heard a lot of cheers when they prepared to enter the flying chamber. The red jump suits were surely an eye catcher and made judging and viewing actually easier in the relatively dark flying chamber.

The Brit Chicks appeared to be a new team project, as there were more red jump suits around at the same event. In fact, the Brit Chicks had a second lineup that competed in the AA Class competition.

Becky Austin, Michelle Meakins and Maria Russel with red suits accepted Leonie Needham's black suit and finished with a 14.3 average in 5th place. The Brit Chicks AAA Class lineup posted a 16.0 average. The first 2010 outdoor competition of the United Kingdom Skydiving League (UKSL) is coming up this weekend.
