Did You Know...

... that the first multi-event weekend of 2010 is coming up?

Strong underdog: Satori with Airspeed members in Bedford
posted May 21st, 2010 - The upcoming weekend will feature the first multi-event leaderboard of the 2010 season. Meets are scheduled at five different locations, and the NSL News is on its way to report live on site from the Northern Plains Skydiving League season opener.

The Carolina Skydiving League and the Mideast Skydiving League will run their first meets of the 2010 season, as well. The other two meets take place in Italy and the United Kingdom.

The NSL News reported already a few years ago that the United Kingdom is becoming one of the Formation Skydiving powerhouses in the world. The British teams in the female category have been winning several medals at world meets over the years, and Team Bodyflight will try to defend the gold medals this year. Satori is a very strong underdog for medals at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010 in Menzelinsk, Russia.

UK A Class champion of 2009: Unagi
The World Challenge 2010 attracted 18 UK teams to Bodyflight Bedford where they battled it out between themselves and in the international arena.

Several of the teams that competed at the World Challenge 2010 will attend their first outdoor competition this weekend. Camscore is taking care of judging and DZ-TV, and the teams are already preparing their jumps for tomorrow. The skydiving center in Netheravon hosts the UK season opener.

The 18 UK teams at the World Challenge 2010 had no A Class to compete in. The UKSL applies all four competition classes, and the A Class was quite popular last year. Eight teams competed in UK's A Class competition in 2009.

Strongest AA Class team at the World Challenge 2010: Kats
The UK teams had the whole new Rookie Class competition for themselves at the World Challenge 2010. Five teams attended the exclusive UK showdown in this category, two of them had already competed in the Rookie Class in 2009. Gr4ity won with a 21.1 average.

Five more UK teams competed in the AA Class where Kats turned out to be the best British team with an 18.2 average. This won the 2nd place behind the Usual Suspects from Germany. Unagi, Slot Machines and Old Skool attended their first meet in the AA Class. They were in the A Class last year.

The other eight teams from the United Kingdom competed in the AAA Class. Satori made it into the Top 10 (9th) with a 26.3 average. Team Bodyflight finished 12th with a 24.6 average.

Honorable 37th place after a UK battle in the AAA Class: Escondido
Five other British AAA Class teams had their own internal indoor championship and races in the lower third of the leaderboard and ranged between 14.6 (Escondido) and 17.3 (Phobia). Two teams from Italy were also involved in this competition.

Sonic Nutz had put some distance between the other British AAA Class contenders and finished with a 19.0 average in 25th place. Interestingly, the ranking order of the British AAA Class teams at the World Challenge 2010 was identical with the standings at the UK Nationals 2009.

It is time now for the first UK outdoor scores. The NSL News will follow up with scores and information as soon as possible.
