Did You Know...

... that the Czech 2010 season opener featured a new generation of teams and competitors?

Jan Klapka with his Bad Boyz
posted Jun 1st, 2010 - The NSL News has followed the 4-way competition in the Czech Republic ever since league founder Jan Klapka launched his 4-way project and joined the NSL Network in 2005. The last NSL News update from the Czech Republic came on 31 December 2009 and was the last NSL News story of the past year.

Jan Klapka had laid out his plans for the 2010 season, which included the completion of a new windtunnel in Prague. He also mentioned that he would have teams in three competition classes this year, AAA - A - Rookie.

The 2010 season in the Czech Republic began last weekend, and eight teams made the first competition this year a successful and promising start.

PB Fire lineup of 2006
According to Jan Klapka's plans and the natural progression of the NSL competition classes, two of last year's Rookie Class teams, Crazy Dragons and Relative Team, moved up into the A Class this year. Despite the first eight blocks, both teams started off on the same scoring level where they performed in the Rookie Class last year.

In addition, PB Fire joined the A Class competition as the third contender. PB Fire has been a part of the league since 2006. Original member Jaroslav Hrstka guided the team through the AAA Class meets in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

PB Fire then took a complete break in 2009, and Jaroslav Hrstka now came back with a completely new lineup. Jan Vajc, Martina Hejná and Veronika Hrstkova have joined the team, Marcela Hejná was filming PB Fire at the first meet in 2010.

Moving up into the A Class: Realtive Team of 2009
PB Fire joined the A Class with the new lineup, and the first scores in this category promise more very exciting competition at the upcoming meets this year. The Crazy Dragons won the first Czech A Class battle with a 10.0 average.

Jan Klapka has three new Rookie Class lineups this year who continue to add to the Czech 4-way community from the bottom up. The Relative Team, which was just founded in 2009 and competed with the first lineup in last year's Rookie Class, added a second lineup to the Czech league.

The original lineup of 2009 has moved up into the A Class. Petr Beránek, Alena Majkovská, Luboš Pinkava and Daniel Suchý have formed the new Rookie Class lineup, the Relative Team B, with Josef Stolin on camera. The other two new Rookie Class lineups, Hot Dogs and Harasim Speed, battled for the first victory this year in a 3-point race.

New generation: Rookie Class winner Hot Dogs
Jan Klapka reported that he was very lucky with the weather at the season opener. He said that the weather has not been very favorable so far in Europe. However, he was able to complete all six rounds with all eight teams on one day.

He was very happy with the outcome of the first meet this year and considers the participants a new generation of Czech 4-way teams and competitors. Three other strong Czech AAA Class teams did not attend the meet, including his own Bad Boyz. The fact that he had three new Rookie Class lineups and that last year's newcomers moved up into the A Class this year is very encouraging.

First meet in the A Class: Crazy Dragons
He also explained that AAA Class team BBF was only a team for the meet. He and another Bad Boyz member, Václav Prokeš, guided Renata Mazelová and Petr Štastný through a fun day of 4-way competition.

Accord was the second team in the AAA Class competition and is one of the original teams of the first CZSL season in 2005. Zbxynek Ulbrych, Dana Stanková, František Cejka and Jirí Rulf have been competing and having fun together in the AAA Class ever since the league was launched. Petr Bubák Petr is on camera for Accord.

The next meet is scheduled for June 26 and will hopefully also feature the missing AAA Class top contenders of 2010.
