Did You Know...

... that a small event in Germany produces impressive scores?

AA Class winner at the World Challenge 2010: Usual Suspects
posted Jun 5th, 2010 - The first scores are posted on this weekend's multi-event leaderboard, and they are coming from Germany. The skydiving center in Kassel-Calden is hosting the Northen German Championships 2010.

It is a very small field of three AAA Class teams this year. However, the quality is on a high level, and two of the teams are not new to the 4-way community and the NSL News.

In fact, the NSL News has been planning to introduce the winning team in the AA Class at the World Challenge 2010 much earlier. This weekend's competition in Germany is a great opportunity to catch up, as the Usual Suspects attended the meet in Kassel.

Usual Suspects 2010 lineup at Bodyflight Bedford
The Usual Suspects competed with team leader Uwe Soppa and a different lineup in 2009. Katharina Gebele was the only returning member of 2009, Bernd Gross and Andrea Jongebloed joined the Usual Suspects this year.

German teams attended the World Challenge at Bodyflight for the first time this year, Usual Suspects was one of the two teams in Bedford, the German national team in the female category, ISB Air the other one. The Usual Suspects had a perfect start of the 2010 season and won the AA Class competition in Bedford with a 19.0 average.

The team now followed up with the first outdoor competition this year and finished today with an impressive 13.7 average in the AAA Class after six rounds, including slot switchers and memory rounds.

Final Four Remscheid last week in DeLand
The German team in 1st place this weekend in Kassel, Final Four Remscheid, performed just as impressively and has a 15.8 average on the scoreboard after six rounds, including two point deductions.

Final Four appeared for the first time on the NSL leaderboard in 2004 when the team attended one of the DSL (Deutsche Sky Liga) meets. Center Inside Thomas Mack is the only original member who helped Final Four to the 9.8 average that year.

Chris Schaefer (Tail), Henning Stumpp (Center Outside), Christian Wirth (Point) are Thomas Mack's team mates this year, Andi Trögele is filming the team. X-Ray Remscheid member Uli Sehrbrock is currently filling the Center Outside slot for Henning Stumpp. The NSL News will introduce Final Four Remscheid with more details later, as the team recently trained in DeLand and provided more information.

8-way team mates at the World Meet 2006 in Germany
There was an interesting aspect of this weekend's competition in Kassel, as Usual Suspects member Uwe Soppa and Final Four substitute Uli Sehrbrock trained and competed together for several years in 4-way and 8-way with X-Ray Remscheid.

Both are some of the most passionate Formation Skydiving competitors on the planet and have competed for many years. They are from the same region in Germany and have shared almost their whole skydiving careers with each other.

Eventually, Uwe Soppa and Uli Sehrbrock both ended up in the German national 8-way team FSC Remscheid that competed at the World Meet 2006 on home turf. Then they went back to their favorite event, 4-way competition. Uli Sehrbrock is still training and competing with X-Ray Remscheid. Both have recently been helping other teams with their skills and experiences, Uwe Soppa for the Usual Suspects and Uli Sehrbrock for Final Four Remscheid.

Scores from another regional meet in Germany this weekend will also be added to the leaderboard very soon.
