Did You Know...

... that Final Four's 19-year old Tail Chris Schaefer has a total of 1100 jumps?

Impressive scores: Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge
posted Jun 12th, 2010 - News scores have been posted on the NSL leaderboard, and they launch a very exciting meet weekend. The scores for the first three rounds in France, posted by Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge, the French national team, are obviously very impressive. The first French 8-way scores have been posted, as well.

The new leaderboard means at the same time that last weekend's numbers have become history and have moved into the archives. The NSL News still goes back one more time to the first multi-event weekend of the 2010 season.

The German 4-way team Final Four Remscheid held on to the top position of the AAA Class leaderboard. The NSL News had promised to introduce the new German top contender during the coverage of last weekend's events.

Consistent progression since 2004: Final Four Remscheid
Final Four appeared for the first time on the NSL leaderboard in 2004 when the team attended one of the DSL (Deutsche Sky Liga) meets. Center Inside Thomas Mack is the only original member who helped Final Four to the first meet average of 8.8 that year.

Thomas Mack continued with changing lineups and a slowly but consistently increasing performance and scoring level year by year. Final Four has never seriously challenged the German top contenders in the past, but this seems to change now.

Chris Schaefer (Tail), Henning Stumpp (Center Outside), Christian Wirth (Point) are Thomas Mack's team mates this year, Andi Trögele is filming the team. X-Ray Remscheid member Uli Sehrbrock is currently filling the Center Outside slot for Henning Stumpp.

Christian Wirth and Thomas Mack with the Final Four 2008 lineup
Point Christian Wirth joined the Final Four lineup in 2008. He has had a short skydiving career where he spent quite some time at the very beginnings to work on his individual skills. XL and Sinapi member Pete Allum was his mentor and coach.

The Final Four 2009 lineup began to work with Solly "The Schleifer" Williams who recently brought up the Danish national team Bodyflight Voluntas to high speed performance and got the Swedish team Bardagi ready to win the qualification for the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010 in Menzelisnk, Russia.

The work with Solly Williams continued this year, but it was once again a new Final Four lineup that showed up in DeLand. Only Thomas Mack and Christian Wirth came back from the 2009 season.

Henning Stumpp (top left) with the German 8-way lineup of 2008
New Final Four member Henning Stumpp, who has trained and competed with the German national 8-way lineups and X-Ray Remscheid for many years, was supposed to take the Center Outside slot with the beginning of the 2010 season and at the recent training camp in DeLand.

He was not able to launch his first Final Four season as planned and will join the lineup later this year. His former 8-way team mate and X-Ray Remscheid member Uli Sehrbrock has filled the Center Outside slot at the DeLand camp and at the recent competition in Germany.

This lineup, which posted Final Four's best meet average ever, the 16.5 average after ten rounds, has most likely the biggest difference in age of team members in recent German 4-way history, as new Final Four member Chris Schaefer has just completed High School.

Final Four founder THomas Mack with Chris Schaefer at a debriefing
Chris Schaefer is 19 years of age now, while Uli Sehrbrock is in the mid 50s. He made his first skydive in May 2006 when he was 15 years young. His father, Bert Schaefer, supported the early start, as he is an active skydiver, as well. In fact, Bert Schaefer was very competitive himself with his 4-way and 8-way lineups in the 1980s and pursued the German championship titles in both events.

Young Chris Schaefer has already a total of 1,100 jumps. Uli Sehrbrock said that he is the most talented German 4-way competitor that he has seen in his own career. The previous athletic education, including track & field and boxing, has probably helped to accelerate the progression in skydiving.

Chris Schaefer plans to go to university and study real estate business, as his father has been running a real estate company for many years. The Final Four 2010 lineup is now waiting for Center Outside Henning Stumpp to come back and take his slot, as Uli Sehrbrock's X-Ray Remscheid lineup has plans for the 2010 season, as well.
