Did You Know...

... that DeLand Dunamis and Miami Reyand took on the AA Class dive pool for the first time?

Teiwaz with new member Gilles Dutrisac
posted Jun 22nd, 2010 - Last weekend's leaderboard is still not complete yet, as some of the scores from the Midwest and all scores from the Northern Plains have not been posted yet. They will be added as soon as they are availabale.

One competition of the multi-event weekend took place at Skydive DeLand where four teams of the Florida Skydiving League braved the hot summer weather. All six rounds were almost completed in DeLand before a summer storm interfered with the Teiwaz attempt to re-jump Round 5 after a video failure.

The summer storm brought hail and rain for Teiwaz right after the exit, and the new lineup for this meet, with former Sebastian Tempest member Gilles Dutrisac, gave up after that and accepted a zero for the round.

DeLand Dunamis prepares the next exit
The two AA Class teams in DeLand, home team Dunamis and the Reyand visitors from Skydive Miami, had their own live competition on site, while Teiwaz and Dropouts could compare their scores only on the NSL leaderboard with teams at other meet locations.

Both AA Class teams took on the dive pools and rules of the next category up. DeLand Dunamis had already mentioned before the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2010 that the new team was planning to start the 2010 season in the A Class and move up to the AA Class as soon as possible. The NSL News story on 25 January 2010 had introduced the team with more details.

Dunamis began with a 9.9 average in the A Class at the Shamrock Showdown and now followed up with a 9.3 average in the AA Class. Player coach Kris Peterson, as Gilles Dutrisac a former Tempest member, was very pleased with her team's first meet performance in the AA Class.

Miami Reyand at work and with fans
Miami Reyand made an even bigger step. Skydive Miami's passionate 4-way mentor Pam Manos and her team mate Trevor Cedar had introduced Andrew Lee and Reinaldo Valentino to 4-way competition in the Rookie Class at two meets of the FSL 2009 season.

They now came back with exactly the same lineup as last year and once again with their own fan club from Miami. The main difference was that Reyand had moved up from the Rookie Class to the AA Class competition.

Pam Manos said that this lineup had not really trained that much. However, all team members wanted to have more fun with the additional eight blocks that come with the AA Class, rather than playing only with the eight A Class blocks. The scores and videos show that Reyand had problems only with Block 1 in Round 6. Reyand even tied one of the Dunamis scores for a round, the 10-pointer in Round 5.
