Did You Know...

... that Norway's June weather was twice as good as in May?

Good vibes in Norway despite the weather problems
posted Jun 27th, 2010 - Norway held the second meet of the Norwegian Cup this weekend, and the weather was twice as good compared to the first meet of the 2010 season. The Norwegian teams had completed only one single round at the May meet. The weather this weekend allowed the completion of two rounds...

The Norwegian national 4-way team X3M4S had attended the first meet of the season with the complete lineup. This time, members of the team participated only as player coaches. Kjetil Rookie Nordin reported that the Saturday started out cloudy, and once the skies cleared up, the wind picked up as well.

The teams completed two rounds after several wind holds before they called it a day. Kjetil Rookie Nordin was guiding the "Masters Of Impressive Skydiving Techniques" (M.O.I.S.T.) through the meet and won the 2-round meet by two points.

Weather games during the wind holds
His X3M4S team mate Yngve Haugom competed with Golden Lockpins, where Espen Lunde filled the slot for Tony André Vangen. Marianne Nordlund was the player coach for Avastars. Tore Granmo, the 4th performing member of the Norwegian national 4-way team, served as the meet judge.

Kjetil Rookie Nordin said that all three teams had exit problems in Round 1. The Golden Lockpins were the quickest to recover and won the round. M.O.I.S.T. then took advantage of the fast sequence of only Random Formations in Round 2 and took the lead.

M.O.I.S.T. and Avastars had trained together at Bodyflight Bedford a few weeks ago. M.O.I.S.T. was showing strong random work at that time, translated it successfully into the outdoor competition and won the friendly meet.

Norwegian national 4-way team in the Open Class: X3M4S
Norway has scheduled another 4-way event of the Norwegian Cup in July before things will become more serious for the X3M4S members themselves. They will travel to Menzelinsk in Russia to represent Norway in the 4-way Open Class at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010.

X3M4S does not have much meet experience as a team so far. The same lineup trained together in 2008 and competed at the World Challenge 2008. Then the team members went different ways in 2009 and re-joined at the end of the 2009 season when they were selected for the new national 4-way team.

The team's only meet jump this year was Round 1 at the Norwegian Cup in May. Round 1 of the World Meet will be the next one, unless X3M4S attends the July meet in Norway. However, the meet atmosphere at the World Meet will be very different and probably much more exciting. This year's World Meet in Menzelinsk, Russia, will serve as a meet experience in itself, as X3M4S has actually team plans for the World Meet in 2012.
