Did You Know...

... that coach Gary Smith had a special job at the Tomscat Trophy?

Happy team after five rounds: Dynamic Fource
posted Jun 30th, 2010 - Another NSL News update goes back to the 19 June meet weekend, which featured the record leaderboard of the 2010 season. A total of 55 teams competed at the same time and used the same competition draw.

The Netherlands had the highest number of teams at the 16th annual Tomscat Trophy, as 22 of the 55 teams competed on the Dutch island of Texel. Dynamic Fource, the Dutch national 4-way team, finished on the top of the AAA Class leaderboard. The NSL News story on 21 June 2010 had provided more details.

The NSL News took another look at the numbers of that weekend, which included the impressive performance of the Dutch national team. The 20.6 average is a new record average of the team and comes at a time when Dynamic Fource prepares for the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010 in Menzelinsk, Russia.

Special job: coach Gary Smith
It was only a 5-round meet, and meet averages have actually real value only after going through almost the whole dive pool in a 10-round meet. However, the SDC Rhythm XP scores after all ten rounds show that the second half (103) was faster than the first half (93). Dynamic Fource's average would most likely be even better after ten rounds.

It was no surprise that the Dutch national team was very pleased with the results at this year's Tomscat Trophy. Dutch League manager Mike Pennock said that the team gave coach Gary Smith a lot of credit for the recent achievements and the progression over the years.

In fact, the Dynamic Fource members were so grateful for Gary Smith's work with the team that they forwarded the honor of adding a new name plate to the trophy to the coach. Mike Pennock provided the photos of Dynamic Fource at the Tomscat Trophy.

Winner of the ESL Spirit in 2005, 2007, 2009: Netherlands
The Dutch national team seems to be ready to become the first "amateur team" that will win the unofficial amateur title at a World Championship of Formation Skydiving by breaking the 20-point average in a 10-round meet.

Mike Pennock also provided information of this year's ESL Championship competition where Dynamic Fource will once again collect points for the Dutch delegation. The Netherlands won the ESL Spirit in 2005, 2007 and 2009 and are the defending champions.

The ESL Championship 2010 is scheduled on the 11 September weekend and will be hosted once again by the Paracentrum Texel. Additional information can be found at the event pages.

First year in the AAA Class: Ignition
The AAA Class competition at the Tomscat Trophy 2010 had a few new teams on the leaderboard.

Mixed Up is a new lineup, while Ignition was last year's Dutch national champion in the AA Class. Whooops, Turbulence and 4tunate came back in the AAA Class where they competed in 2009.

Ignition had a great start into the AAA Class 2010 season. The 11.6 average after the slower first half of the meet beats the 11.5 average that Ignition posted to win the AA Class competition at the Dutch Nationals 2009.

Other Dutch teams moved up into new categories, as well, and started the 2010 season with impressive results. The NSL News will get back to the same overall leaderboard later on.
