Did You Know...

... that Carolina Turbo XP continued with the scoring progression?

Carolina Turbo XP exit
posted Jul 2nd, 2010 - The NSL News goes back to the June meet of the Carolina Skydiving League. CASL Director Dan Winkelstein has published all competition jumps on YouTube where they are ready for reviews.

The videos include the six rounds of Carolina Turbo XP, the youngest AAA Class team in the country. The NSL News has followed Turbo ever since the team was founded, as the team seems to have the potential to make it to the very top in the world. In fact, that's exactly what the team members have set as a goal.

Turbo started the 2010 season at the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2010, and the video of the ten Turbo competition jumps in DeLand was posted with the story on 29 March 2010.

Carolina Turbo XP's scoring progression
The new CASL videos include Turbo's six rounds at the CASL June meet where the team beat the Shamrock average (13.0) by a point average (14.0) and continued with the progression.

Carolina Turbo XP competed on the busy meet weekend of June 19 when a total of 15 teams posted scores on the AAA Class leaderboard. Turbo placed its team name in the top third (5th) of the international field, tied with the Dutch team Whooops as of the meet average after ten rounds.

The YouTube video below shows all CASL teams beginning with Round 1, Turbo's first round is at the very beginning of the video. The other videos can be found on the same YouTube channel.

Team member Benjamin Worrall also had an update for the NSL News that explained the challenging logistics that the young team has been dealing with. Coach Jan Lane has actually been filling a slot recently, including the CASL June meet.

The Air Force has now moved Ben Worrall out to Texas for a few years, which has caused some difficulties for the team's training plan this year. Coach Jan Lane has been filling the slot as a full-time alternate when Ben Worrall is not available.

Jan Lane was flying the Tail slot at the CASL June meet where Turbo completed all ten rounds draw over the weekend. The team had made two training jumps with Jan Lane the Friday prior to that meet, which marked the first time that Turbo had flown or trained with the coach as the alternate.

The team was happy with the outcome, as Ben Worrall reported: "We could not have asked for a better person to fly with the team during my absence. As of right now, we are planning training weekends and camps with both Jan and myself flying the Tail slot."

Ben Worrall will be flying out to the Carolinas for both jumping and wind tunnel training with the team on several occasions throughout the summer. He also provided a summary of the June meet:

"Overall, we were happy with the outcome of this meet and our 14.0 average with Jan. We have very high goals for our training over the summer, and we are excited to compete at several NSL meets, as well as the USPA Nationals in Chicago.
