Did You Know...

... that the last NSL Talk of the day features Arizona Airspeed and Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge?

4-way world champions by one point in 2008: Arizona Airspeed
posted Jul 31st, 2010 - The NSL Talk session with Arizona Airspeed was taking place under challenging conditions. The defending 4-way world champions were ready to make the last training jump before the start of the competition. The last jump before a meet is meaningful, and nobody knew when the boarding call would come.

The Airspeed members took it easy, and their experience surely helped in such a situation. They accepted the NSL News invitation and met with Joey Jones as the anchor of the NSL-TV show. It became even more challenging when the NSL News went back in time to the World Meet 2008 in Maubeuge, France.

Airspeed almost gave away the gold medals in the last round and ended up one single point ahead of Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge. The Airspeed members had no interest in discussing this bad memeory, and the discussion went on to the next topic. Eventually, the boarding call really came, and this NSL Talk session had to be terminated.

World Challenge 2010 champion: Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge
Not too much later, the NSL News met with Joey Jones again. This time, the same French team that had threatened Airspeed in 2008 was sitting on the table with the NSL News where Airspeed had just tried to avoid any thoughts of the 2008 situation.

The French team was also thinking only of the upcoming competition. Joey Jones started the conversation with the question how the team felt about being the favorite in the 4-way Open Class this time. Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge had defeated Airspeed at the World Challenge 2010 and outscored the world champions later in an indirect competition on the Midway Battle weekend.

The French team answered Joey Jones' question with the surprising statement that they don't feel like being the favorites. They still see Airspeed simply as the reigning world champions, which makes them the favorite in the meet. NSL News and Joey Jones challenged this statement for a little while before moving on to the next topic, as well. Point Mathieu Bernier had to answer a few extra questions, as he is the only team member who will try to win gold medals in 4-way and in 8-way at the same time.
