Did You Know...

... that Shannon Pilcher expects his own 4-way world record to be broken?

Arizona Airspeed takes the lead in Round 1
posted Aug 1st, 2010 - No scores yet for the audience at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010, even though the teams are already in the air for Round 2. However, the judges are in the middle of Round 1, and it shouldn't take too long for the first complete numbers for a round.

It looked like Arizona Airspeed and NMP-PCH Hayabusa had a good start, as there was a 22 on the Omniskore screen for Airspeed and a 21 for Hayabusa. The other top contenders have not been judged yet.

In the meantime, the NSL News met with Shannon Pilcher in the morning and before the teams boarded the plane for Round 1. This NSL Talk covered mostly Round 3 where everybody expects the current world record to fall.

NSL Talk with Spaceland Force after the world record
Shannon Pilcher still owns this 45-pointer that was scored by Spaceland Force at the USPA Nationals 2009. Then it was tied by the Russian Sky Panthers at the Russian Nationals 2010.

Shannon Pilcher is coaching the Canadian team Evolution, and he has no doubt that the sequence is fast enough that his own team and a few others will score higher than 45 points.

There have been several fast sequences of only random formations in the past years. The competition draw for this year's world meet includes another very fast sequence. Round 9 will bring additional high scores to the leaderboard. Most likely, it will also lead to a new record meet average.
