Did You Know...

... that eight teams broke the previous world record in Menzelinsk?

Not happy with Round 3: ISB Air
posted Aug 1st, 2010 - The NSL Talk session with Gary Smith and Joey Jones will finish the Sunday for the NSL News. It was an action loaded day with three rounds of 4-way in the Open Class and in the female category, including a new 4-way world record.

Round 3 in the female category has been completed, but the judges did not get to the judging of the last round. The scores will be posted tomorrow morning as early as possible. There are no indications what the fast sequence of random formations did to the leaderboard in the female category. Only the German team ISB Air mentioned that the jump was not too good, but the German standards are on high level now.

The Monday will begin with 8-way competition though. The 4-way teams will have to be back in the afternoon.

On the top - with additional point or without: Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge
Joey Jones and Gary Smith said and were happy that the scores of Round 3 did not cause any serious damage to any of the top teams. There was the potential to fall totally out of contention just in one single round, but it did not happen.

In fact, it became even tighter and more exciting, as the Sky Panthers made it a real 4-team race for the medals by scoring the 56-pointer world record. There is only a difference of three points between the leader, Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge, and the Sky Panthers/Arizona Airspeed. It may become a 4-point difference if France gets the additional point in the morning.

Additional point or not - the Top 4 are close enough for a great race and will probably continue like that. Round 9 will then bring another very fast sequence and may become the meet maker or breaker for the medal contenders. Last not least: eight teams broke the previous world record of 45 points, quite amazing...
