Did You Know...

... that Gary Smith and Mike LaRoche open the day for the NSL News in Menzelinsk?

Spaceland Blue with coach Thomas Hughes and the Fun Flag
posted Aug 4th, 2010 - Wednesday morning at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010 began with a new session of NSL Talk. Actually, big news first: the Fun Flag is now in the possession of the US female 4-way team, Spaceland Blue. That is no surprise since Thomas Hughes is the team's coach.

Gary Smith and Mike LaRoche were the NSL Talk guests this morning. Mike LaRoche is the alternate for the Golden Knights who were getting ready for Round 8 when the NSL Talk took place. The NSL News audience may remember that the NSL News reported in spring this year that Mike LaRoche could not compete with his team at the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2010:

"He and his wife just had a baby girl. Grace LaRoche was born prematurely with a weight of 2lbs and 2oz. New father Mike LaRoche decided to spend the time with his family, and the decision was fully supported by his team."

Kurt Isenbarger filled the slot and has staid with the team ever since.

NSL News audience favors the US team in 8-way
Gary Smith is coaching only 4-way teams. However, he gets to the Menzelinsk dropzone early in the morning to follow all the other events. He provided up-to-date information for the NSL News and a preview of today's events.

The clip begins with a high-quality video of the US Army team's Round 1. Most of the original video files are now available for NSL-TV and will be processed for reviews step by step.

8-way competition is on in the morning, and the audience currently favors the US team for the gold medals. The polls are still open and will remain so until the last round is coming up.
