Did You Know...

... that the Aerokart Deep Blue members had their eyes on the other leaderboard?

No surprise for the NSL News audience
posted Aug 11th, 2010 - Last, and not least at all, NSL-TV features eight of the ten rounds that the French national team in the female 4-way category, Aerokart Deep Blue, delivered at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010.

It was no surprise that the French team won the gold medals without much competition in this category. Team Bodyflight and Spaceland Blue were hoping that they may have a chance to challenge Deep Blue. Reality was different.

The French team was much better prepared and on a different scoring and performance level after being together with the same lineup since the end of the 2007 season. The earlier scores of the 2010 season confirmed that Deep Blue would be the top favorite in the female category.

Preparations for Round 10 with coach Marin Ferre
It turned out that Deep Blue was even further ahead of the field than it was expected. The French team allowed any other team to tie the score for a round only once. Team Bodyflight managed to match the French 19-pointer in Round 10. The rest of the meet was under French control.

Deep Blue was prepared to look for a different challenge, as the French team had done earlier at the other meets. The eyes of the team members were mostly on the scores of the Open Class teams. They would find the challenging numbers on that other leaderboard.

The French all-female lineup was racing with Italy's team Sinapsi for the 6th place in the Open Class, which would have been the last slot in the finals had Deep Blue been eligible for this category. Deep Blue and Sinapsi ended up tied with a 23.6 average after ten rounds.

Gold medals for Aerokart Deep Blue in Menzelinsk
Deep Blue and Sinapsi were both only four points behind the 5th place that Canada's LeMay family team Evolution won with a 24.0 average. The medal positions in the Open Class were still too far for the French ladies. However, they could become a goal in the future.

Aerokart Deep Blue will take a break now, however. This break could last exactly nine months. This is what the team members, at least three of them, are hoping for. Growing the Deep Blue family is on the agenda next, which explains the 9-month period.

The team members have had a lot of fun together, which continued when the competition in Menzelinsk was over. The success was impressive, as well, and the chances are not too bad that Deep Blue might come back with the same lineup next year. The 9-month period could even be over before the World Cup 2011 in Germany...
