Did You Know...

... that NSL-TV presents the complete UK battle for the gold medals?

Silver medals for Team Bodyflight in Menzelinsk
posted Aug 20th, 2010 - The UK Nationals 2010 found special attention by the NSL News this year, and there were several good reasons for it. The story on 16 August 2010 mentioned that there was a record participation, while the scores were uploaded throughout the weekend, with the help of Camscore's Jo Bell and Andrew Mansfield.

The actual meet story followed on 18 August 2010, provided by Kaizen's eye witness Jo Hawley.

A special preview on 12 August 2010 focused on the new battle between UK's two national 4-way teams, Satori in the Open Class and Team Bodyflight in the female category. Both teams had just finished their competition at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010 in Menzelinsk, Russia, where Team Bodyflight won silver medals and Satori ended up in 8th place with a 22.0 average after nine rounds.

Satori at the World Meet 2010 in Menzelinsk
Satori was only one single point ahead of Team Bodyflight after nine rounds in Russia and did not qualify for the final Round 10, while six teams in the female category completed ten rounds, including Team Bodyflight.

The situation was very different after the UK Nationals 2010 when both teams had completed ten rounds. Satori had won the gold medals by 19 points over Team Bodyflight in 2nd place, even though the competition draw was much slower compared to the world meet.

Satori's Center Outside, Julia Foxwell, knew at least one reason for sure that explained the difference. She said that her team lost approx. 15 points in Russia, due to infringements and video issues. Satori's scores did not really reflect thre potential of the team.

Gold medals for Satori at the UK Nationals 2010
The UK Nationals 2010 was the perfect opportunity for the British national team to set the records straight and get redemption. The Satori members surely felt that they underperformed in Menzelinsk and did not hide it.

Julia Foxwell explained that her team still felt that it was a great year. The performance at the UK Nationals last weekend helped to get over the disappointing competition experience in Russia and to finish the season in great spirits.

NSL-TV found a way to present the first videos of the UK Nationals 2010, once again with the help of the Camscore video files of the event. The NSL News audience now has the opportunity to compare the Satori performance at both events. The Camscore videos include the actual judging, and the audience can follow the timeline and the scoring procedure.

End of a 3-year plan - first Satori lineup in 2008
Satori was expected to be one of the teams that would fill the gap between the top contenders for the medals and the unofficial "amateur teams" and battle for a slot in the final Round 10. Eventually, UK's national team in the Open Class ended up behind the German team Paratec-Saar and missed the finals.

However, this Russian experience is history now, and Satori is looking forward again after a great performance at the UK Nationals and after defending the national 4-way title successfully. There is also still the ESL Championship coming in September, another opportunity for the UK teams to put up great scores.

Satori is now coming to the end of the team's 3-year commitment with about a £200,000 budget. The team members would like to continue, but only time will tell if there will be any funds around for the Satori future.
