Did You Know...

... that Bodyflight Voluntas could become the new top contender for the next amateur title?

Three successful years for the Pro Team
posted Sep 23rd, 2010 - The NSL News story on 8 September 2010 covered the unofficial Scandinavian championship of the 2010 season at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010. Finland (Pro Team), Denmark (Bodyflight Voluntas), Sweden (Bardagi) and Norway (X3M4S Elements) battled for the top position, and the first story included the videos of the first four rounds.

The remaining four rounds have now been uploaded, once again except the competition jumps of the Pro Team. The competition videos of Finland's national team have been a part of the race for the unofficial amateur title and the related stories.

The Pro Team was the last of the Top 10 teams that made it into the Semifinals. The 43-pointer in Round 3 laid the foundation for the victory over the other three Scandinavian teams, especially Bodyflight Voluntas from Denmark.

Two great years for Bodyflight Voluntas
It was a much closer race between Voluntas and the Pro Team than the final leaderboard actually shows. The Pro Team's 20.4 average was supported by the 28-pointer in Round 9. The team from Finland was the only Scandinavian team that made it into the Semifinals, which qualified teams to continue with Round 9. The sequence of Round 9 was the second fastest one of the meet, and all other teams missed the opportunity to improve the meet averages.

Bodyflight Voluntas was the strongest Scandinavian team for seven of the eight rounds. Denmark's national team outscored the Pro Team by two points but gave away the fast Round 3 by six points. That was too much, and the Pro Team defended the lead after Round 3 successfully.

The new videos also show how Sweden's team Bardagi defended the 3-point lead after four rounds over Norway's X3M4S Elements. Sweden ended up with a 2-point lead after Round 8 and left Norway at the bottom of the unofficial Scandinavian leaderboard.

Two years in numbers: Bodyflight Voluntas
The Pro Team's 3-year plan has come to its end now, and the future of Sweden's current national team is open, as well. Norway is at the beginning of a new 3-year period for both national 4-way teams, and Bodyflight Voluntas has made plans for the 2011 season, as well. There is a good chance that the Scandinavian rankings will look very different at the next World Championship of Formation Skydiving in 2012.

Norway has always brought up its national teams to a world class level by giving them enough time and support to develop the necessary skills and experiences. It would be no big surprise to see X3M4S Elements and Polaris at a very different scoring and performance level at the end of the 2011 season.

Bodyflight Voluntas began to make plans for the 2011 season earlier this year and is highly motivated after two great years with consistent progression. FSL Shamrock Showdown 2011 and World Challenge 2011 are both on the team's meet agenda. Denmark's Open Class team could become the top contender for the unofficial amateur title in 2012 with two more good years to come.
