Did You Know...

... that competition experiences also helped the Intermediate Class teams?

Microburst on home turf in the Northern Plains
posted Oct 13th, 2010 - Real competition practice does not only work well for the most experienced teams. A closer look at the Intermediate Class leaderboard of the USPA Nationals 2010 supports what veteran coaches and competitors suggest from the very beginning: attend meets to collect as much competition experiences as possible.

All Top 10 teams in the Intermediate Class competition at the USPA Nationals attended at least one meet before they traveled to Skydive Chicago in September. Several of those ten best AA/Intermediate Class teams competed more than two times this year.

Northern Plains Skydiving League team Microburst, with NPSL Director Sandy Grillet in the lineup, attended five meets and peaked at the last one through an exciting battle for the 4th place with Dallas Khaos and Tenacity.

Air Force headquarters at the USPA Nationals 2010
Two Air Force lineups, Impulse and Eminence, won the gold and bronze medals this year. Air Force teams have collected many sets of medals in the Intermediate Class in the last decade. However, Impulse's 1st place this year brings the first gold medals to the Air Force headquarters in Colorado.

Meet Director of the USPA Nationals 2010, Bill "Coach" Wenger, who is in charge of the Air Force Academy cadets, was proud of this achievement, as he provided some information in a live NSL Talk with the NSL News on 13 September 2010.

It was not a big challenge for the winning team. AF Impulse won the meet by 22 points, and it was more like a walk in the park. AF Eminence in 3rd place had more competition, as Spaceland Mamba put up a great fight to defend the second place successfully.

Mideast Skydiving League team Tenacity
The Air Force teams had actually finished the 2009 or started into the 2010 season in the A Class, as Impulse and Eminence both competed at the USPA Collegiates 2009 at the end of December 2009. Impulse ended up in 3rd place (15.3) at this championship, Eminence placed 6th with an 11.2 average.

VTSD won the well deserved gold medals with a 23.0 average and then continued in the AAA Class competition as Carolina Turbo XP. AF Impulse and AF Eminence stepped up into the AA Class to prepare for the Intermediate Class competition at the USPA Nationals 2010.

Three teams from Dallas (Khaos, Pulse, Shock and Awe) and Spaceland Mamba used the Dallas Super Cup 2010 to get more competition practice. Tenacity competed at the meets of the Mideast Skydiving League, while Sky Ninjas and DeLand 5 competed in Florida.
