Airspeed still competed with the lineup of the past four years at the USPA Nationals 2010 and added one more set of USPA 4-way gold medals to the collection.
Then it was time to make plans for the 2011 season and the near future. Airspeed needed a new lineup, and the recruiting efforts were completed quicker and earlier than expected. Airspeed posted an official press release today, which introduced the new lineup.
As you may have already gathered, the Airspeed project is undergoing a great transition. Eliana Rodriguez and Craig Girard have decided to leave the team to pursue new prospects. Unfortunately, Andy Delk has also decided to step down at this time.
In order to fill the void left behind by the outgoing members, Airspeed faces a substantial rebuild. With the goal of ensuring the future of the project while creating a winning team, we set out to rebuild the team with the perfect blend of youth, talent, and experience.
The new members for Airspeed 2011 are: Josh Hall, formerly of Perris Fury, Thomas Hughes, formerly of Spaceland Force and Arizona Airspeed 2006, Niklas Hemlin, formerly of Team Fastrax, and Mark Kirkby who is a continuing member of Airspeed. The videoflyer for the 2011 team is yet to be determined.
We anticipate starting training with this new lineup in the months of November and December of 2010, as the Skydive Arizona fall and winter season gets underway.
At this time, we would liketo thank the incredible ongoing support from our sponsors: Skydive Arizona, Performance Designs, Sunpath Products, Vigil, Skyventure Arizona, Cookie Composites, Tony Suits, Larsen and Brusgaard, and Square One.
We would also like to sendour deepest thanks to the skydiving community. The support in the United States, as well as around the world, has been a vital part of the success of the Airspeed project. We hope the community embraces the new team as it continues the legacy of Arizona Airspeed.
Blue Skies,
Arizona Airspeed
The new lineup consists of highly experienced and extremely well trained competitors. It will probably not take very long until Airspeed will be back to the performance level of the last four years.
The NSL News will follow up very soon with profiles of the new Airspeed members.
