Did You Know...

... that new results of the NSL SkyVenture Orlando Competition are posted?

posted Aug 18th, 2005 - The NSL News slowly catches up with the results of the NSL SkyVenture Orlando Competition. The results of the May 21 weekend are still missing, however, the scores of all other meet weekends until July 16 have now been calculated.

The July 9 weekend was not very difficult for the calculator. Only the AA Class teams of the Colorado Skydiving League competed that weekend. The CSL highscorer, Air Force LOC, went into the meet with the benchmark handicap of 1.00 and also finished the competition with the highest raw average of 9.7 after six rounds.

The winner of the NSL SkyVenture Orlando Competition was still a different team and came from the same Air Force headquarters, which has produced several competitive 4-way teams in the past years. Air Force Prodigy won the competition after handicap and will receive a 10-minute certificate for free tunnel time at SkyVenture Orlando.

Kachina training with Rusty Lewis and coach Pete Allum at SkyVenture Arizona
The July 16 weekend had a total of 26 teams competing in all four NSL competition classes, and especially the AAA Class teams were facing a slow and very technical competition draw. The NSL SkyVenture Orlando Competition results of the AAA Class were calculated after four rounds since the Virginia Parachute Council could not complete the whole meet.

Kachina was the winner before and after handicap with a 12.5 meet average after the very slow first four rounds. The NSL News story on August 2 had already covered Kachina's meet traveling, and the team's scores at the July 16 meet in Virginia were very impressive. Teams from Florida, the Northern Plains and Brazil completed the field on July 16, and the NSL-TV will follow up with round one of this meet weekend next.

VPC team JFF posted the highest raw scores of the AA Class on July 16 and finished with an 11.6 meet average. The first five rounds counted for the NSL SkyVenture Orlando Competition where JFF ended up in third place. West Point Combined, coached by Golden Knights veteran Eric Heinsheimer, switched positions with JFF and moved from third place before handicap to first place after handicap. All four VPC teams took the first four places out of ten AA Class teams in the NSL SkyVenture Orlando Competition.

Two teams competed in the A Class on July 16. The Wissota Shockers attended the team's third NPSL 2005 competition and ended up tied in first place with the NPSL newcomer, Kittywompus. Both teams exchanged blows round by round throughout the whole meet and finished with 27 points after six round for a 4.7 meet average. SkyVenture Orlando's 10-minute certificate for the best scores after handicap went to Kittywompus.

NPSL team Jammerica
Seven Rookie Class teams signed up for the July 16 weekend, five in Virginia and two in the Northern Plains. All five VPC teams were newcomers of the 2005 season, while both NPSL teams, Flying Circus and Jammerica, had already competed at an earlier NPSL meet.

The VPC teams received their handicaps after the first three rounds and were able to improve their scores in the second half of the meet more than the NPSL teams compared to their pevious meet results. Arch Madness ended up in first place after handicap and won 30 free minutes of tunnel time in the NSL SkyVenture Orlando Competition.

The NSL News will continue to catch up with more results of the remaining weekends. NSL-TV of the July 16 meet weekend is next. Stay tuned.
