Did You Know...

... that Petra van Overveld is ISB Air's new Point?

Cleanest team until Round 6: Team Bodyflight
posted Oct 27th, 2010 - The competition videos of the next two rounds of the female 4-way competition at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010 have been uploaded and are now available for reviews. Once again, the NSL leaderboard also shows the point deductions in those two rounds.

The two top teams, Aerokart Deep Blue and Team Bodyflight, were also the cleanest teams. The UK team had no penalties at all until Round 6, and France lost only one point so far. Polaris from Norway and Sweden's female 4-way lineup also had only one point deduction.

The penalty situation was very different right behind the gold and silver medal positions where ISB Air tried to keep up with Spaceland Blue. Both teams lost a lot of points, as the US team also tried to connect with the teams ahead and pushed the pace.

New ISB Air lineup with Petra van Overveld
The NSL News story on 25 October 2010 mentioned that ISB Air will not continue with the same lineup, as Center Outside Susa Serra is stepping back. The same story named Petra van Overveld as the potential new team member.

The confirmation from Germany came quickly and happily. Team speaker Pia Weingart, ISB Air's Center Inside, said that she had great news: "ISB Air will continue, and we have a wonderful lineup. Our new Point Petra van Overveld is from the Netherlands, but fortunately she has a German mom and can easily join the team."

She said that the team has already trained two times in the wind tunnel, and it was a great start with great jumps and group dynamics. Former Point Sarah Hajooze has taken the Center Outside slot and likes it a lot. Petra van Overveld knows the Point slot very well.

Petra van Overveld with Skytrax
The NSL News introduced Petra van Overveld when she visited Skydive DeLand for a training camp with Skytrax in January. The NSL News reported on 29 January 2010 that Skytrax was planning to compete at SkyQuest 2010. There was no indication at that time that she could be a candidate for a slot in the German team ISB Air later:

"Petra van Overveld from the Netherlands is the Skytrax Point. She started her 4-way career with team Whooops in 2004 and competed with the team in the Dutch Rookie Class competition (1.7 - 3.7 - 5.9) of 2005. She continued with A Class team Yottsu in 2007 and moved up into the AA Class with the same team in 2008.

She made her first contact with the AAA Class dive pool when she trained and competed with the all-female Spark lineup last year. She was also on the Belgian team Phantom Fource in 2009 where she trained and competed in the Center Outside slot."

With Dutch Rookie Class team Whooops in 2005
SkyQuest with the NSL Championship 2010 is coming up soon, and the NSL News audience will learn more about the new ISB Air member. It seems like the German national team in the female 4-way category may not have to work too hard to continue on the performance level where ISB Air was at the World Meet in Menzelinsk.

This situation might set up the German team in an even better position in the long race for medal positions at the next World Championship of Formation Skydiving in 2012. Germany has never won a medal in any event at a World Meet since the new FS format was introduced in 1985.

The three returning ISB Air members (Sarah Hajooze, Anne Heinrich, Pia Weingart) won bronze medals at the World Cup 2009 in Prostejov in a field with only four teams. The World Cup 2011 takes place on home turf in Germany, and the new ISB Air lineup plans to attend several meets next year. The team has also plans for a training camp in the USA.
