Did You Know...

... that Carolina Ice and Raeford SkyCatz will represent the Carolina Skydiving League?

Carolina Ice at SkyQuest 2004
posted Aug 23rd, 2005 - Carolina Ice and Raeford SkyCatz are the lucky winners of the Paraclete sponsorship in the Carolina Skydiving League. Both teams can begin making travel arrangements to the USPA Nationals (Carolina Ice) and the NSL Championship (Raeford SkyCatz). They will represent the Carolina Skydiving League at these two events.

Carolina Ice is the defending NSL Champion in the AA Class after winning the NSL Championship of the AA Class at SkyQuest 2004. However, Ice has not won a USPA medal yet after a disqualification last year. This year's USPA Championship in Perris will be the opportunity for Ice's redemption.

The current AA Class rankings show that Carolina Ice is still holding the first place with a 12.2 season average. This might change after the Arizona Divewerkz scores of the NSL Playoffs 2005 will be available. In any case, the AA Class competition in Perris will be tight, as the NSL News story of August 9 reported. Hopefully, Carolina Ice will still defend the NSL title at Fantasy of Flight in November - whether winning in Perris or not.

The Raeford SkyCatz are the only Rookie Class team that attended five competitions this year. The 8.1 season average sets the CaSL team in second place of the Rookie Class rankings. Only two Rookie Class teams were able to get to the 10.0 average at a meet this year, and the SkyCatz were one of them. The CASL meet story below offers additional information, several more pictures can also be found at the CaSL website.

Carolina Skydiving League Meet 5

The final CaSL meet and the NSL Playoffs event for the 2005 season was hosted by Paul & Nancy Fayard at Carolina Sky Sports. Even with a heat index of 105+, the FrankenOtter carried the eleven teams, 36+ tandems and the usual weekend fun jumpers quickly to altitude and allowed the 6-round meet to conclude before 5:30pm. Four teams completed the final four rounds of the NSL Playoffs 2005 early on Sunday.

With two teams competing, the silver medals of the Rookie Class went to FFSP and the gold medals to Raeford SkyCatz. The team's season average of 7.5 earned the Skycatz the Paraclete Armor Sponsorship to the NSL Championship 2005 at Fantasy of Flight. Paraclete Armor of Raeford, NC, is paying for the Skycatz's registration and jump tickets when they represent the Carolina Skydiving League in Florida this November.

The AA/Intermediate Class had eight teams competing. In the handicapped scoring, MTS won the bronze medals, Raeford Fury earned the silver medals and Ready Set Go took the first place. Carolina Ice won the AA Class competition before handicap with an 11.5 meet average. The team's season average of 11.6 earned Ice the Paraclete Armor sponsorship to the USPA Nationals in Perris, CA. The sponsorship includes payment of the registration fees and the ten competition rounds.

Team It's My 1st Day won the CaSL gold medals in the AAA/Open Class. The Rigging Solutions Best Video Award of $100.00 was presented to Heather Kent after a very close finish between her, Chad Wilcox and Karen Wood.
