Did You Know...

... that Mile Hi Mayhem tried to win the 3rd NSL trophy?

Rookie Class champions in 2007: Mile Hi Mayhem
posted Dec 3rd, 2010 - The NSL News now zooms in on the AA Class competition at the NSL Championship 2010 after finishing the coverage of the teams in the AAA Class.

The first update, right after the conclusion of SkyQuest 2010 on 22 November 2010, briefly mentioned the winners in both categories, DeLand Shmeland and Perris Jimani. The NSL News will soon continue with the coverage of the A Class competition, as well.

The same story reported that Jimani had to work harder than ever before to win the AA Class gold medals for the 4th time. In fact, this year's victory came after the tightest competition of all four meets. Jimani was tied in 1st place with FSC Wind Damaged after nine rounds and won the gold medals with the highest score of the meet, the 20-pointer in Round 3. NSL-TV now begins with the video coverage of the competition.

A closer look at the AA Class leaderboard shows that it could not have been any more exciting in the race for the 2010 gold medals. Jimani's 20-pointer in Round 3 did not only eventually turn out to be the tie breaker, it was also the big winner of the meet.

The Florida Skydiving League team actually won the other eight rounds by four points (80 - 76). However, a fast sequence of only random formations (B-E-Q-H) was once again the maker or breaker in a 4-way competition. Jimani took advantage of the scoring opportunity and won the whole meet.

The first clip of meet videos includes Perris Jimani's highscore in Round 3. It features all four teams with their first three rounds. The scores after Round 1 already determined the final ranking order, even though all four teams exchanged highscores for a round throughout the whole meet. It was a great competition.

3rd place in the AA Class 2010: Mile Hi Mayhem
It was not much less competitive in the race for the bronze medals between Mile Hi Mayhem and the ever changing Teiwaz Eagle lineup. Both teams were separated by only two points at the end of the 9-round meet.

Mayhem has the team's name on two of the NSL trophies. The Colorado team won the Rookie Class championship in 2007 (Craig Julien, Robert Meister, Russ Moran, Kim Smith, Peter Konrad on camera) and followed up a year later in the A Class competition with exactly the same lineup and Scott Levesque on camera.

Mayhem took a break in 2009 and now came back with Rusty Lewis (Center Inside), Russ Moran (Center Outside), Kim Smith (Point), Craig Julien (Tail) and Jordan Lamach on camera to go after the AA Class trophy. It was close but not enough this year. Mayhem has a good reason to try again next year.
