Did You Know...

... that the Virginia Parachute Councul concluded the 2010 season with record participation?

Winning lineup: Woolly Mammoths
posted Dec 5th, 2010 - There were other additional scores, which came from a meet that was held on November 14, the weekend before the NSL Championship 2010.

The Virginia Parachute Council finished the 2010 season with another event of the league's 4-way mentorship program at Skydive The Point.

There were no other meets on the same weekend, as the 2010 season was over for all other leagues, and VPC Director John Meyer decided to use the competition draw of an earlier meet this year.

It was the Rookie Class draw of the September 18 meet weekend that the VPC 4-way lineups took on two months later.

Tie breaking highscore in Round 2: Hungo Ver
John Meyer provided a summary of the meet and reported that the Virginia Parachute Council and Skydive the Point in West Point, VA, continued their 4-way mentorship program with a 4-way Scrambles meet.

He said that the event was a great wrap-up of the 2010 season with a superb turnout of six teams, which was record participation this year. As with previous events, a player coach format was used, with seasoned 4-way competitors performing as team captains.

One of the teams, Freeb Ear, was lucky enough to draw recent USPA Advanced Class 4-way champion Doug Barron, Carolina Turbo XP member, as the team captain. The 4-way teams were fleshed out with jumpers of various skill and experience levels on random draw in such a manner as to equalize the teams to the best extent possible.

Rookie Class leaderboard on September 18
John Meyer said that the awesome weather late in November jazzed up the competitors for the meet. The VPC teams did really well, as the complete Rookie Class leaderboard after three rounds shows.

Woolly Mammoths, with team captain Rick Fetter, Jamie Rogalla, Dana Bittenbender, Jon Charlton and Dan Cooke on camera, outscored the Miami Dropouts of the Florida Skydiving League who completed six rounds in September. Swam Pass (team captain Jason Whitt, Kevin Larson, Dark Naked, Jocylyn Lewis and Dri Menendez on camera) was actually also one point ahead of the FSL team after three rounds.

Two of the six VPC teams finished tied with 15 points. John Meyer said that the VPC bronze medals went to Team Hungo Ver due to their 8-pointer highscore in Round 2. An award ceremony at sunset concluded the meet and an awesome day and weekend of skydiving at Skydive the Point. John Meyer encouraged regional skydivers to watch the VPC 2010 calendar for similar events early next year.
