Did You Know...

... that Georgia Tech's Wreckless lineup added more NSL medals to the GT collection?

AAA Class gold medals for Genesis in 1998
posted Dec 11th, 2010 - Last not least, two teams competed for the A Class title at the NSL Championship 2010, and GT Wreckless from Georgia won this year's gold medals.

There is nothing new about the fact that a team from Georgia Tech traveled once again to DeLand and competed at the NSL Championship. It is not even new that a team from Georgia ends up winning at the last NSL event of the year. In fact, it is almost a tradition that Georgia Tech teams represent the university and the Georgia Skydiving League really well.

DeLand Genesis, later knows as PD Blue (Shannon Pilcher, Ian Bobo, Kyle Collins, David van Greuningen, with Eric Taylor on camera), competed and won the AAA Class title for the Florida Skydiving League in 1998, 1999 and 2000. Mr. Pink from Georgia attended the same three championship events and came back in 2001, as well, together with GSL team Nemesis.

Georgia Tech team Inviscid made it a 3-team delegation in 2002 and won the A Class gold medals, while Mr. Pink and Nemesis fought it out once again in the AAA Class competition. Mr. Pink made the same trip in 2003 for the 6th time and won the bronze medals.

GT Airlock represented Georgia at the NSL Championship 2004 and successfully defended the A Class trophy for Georgia Tech. Airlock came back a year later in the AA Class and finished in 3rd place.

No teams from Georgia competed between 2006 and 2008 when the Georgia Skydiving League was in hibernation. The league was re-activated in 2009, and a new Georgia Tech lineup, Ductape (with GT Wreckless members Greg Lennartz and Chris Wallis), prepared for the USPA Collegiates 2009 where they finished in 9th place with a 10.7 average.

Greg Lennartz and Chris Wallis came back with Short and Sweet for the April meet of the Georgia Skydiving League where they competed in the AA Class competition. Then they put together the new Georgia Tech lineup for the USPA Collegiates 2010 and signed up for the NSL Championship at SkyQuest 2010.

Nathan Briggs (Tail), James Hall (Point), Greg Lennartz (Center Inside), Chris Wallis (Center Outside) and Johan Brynhi (Camera) eventually competed in the A Class at the NSL Championship to get ready for the Collegiates, which applies the same dive pool.

Paraclete XP4 member Andy Honigbaum was coaching the team this year, and Wreckless finished with a promising 11.3 average after nine rounds in DeLand. The USPA Collegiates 2010 begin on December 28.
