Did You Know...

... that Texas team Hot Flash peaked at the NSL Championship 2010?

Ground work for Hot Flash at the NSL Championship 2010
posted Dec 16th, 2010 - Georgia Tech team GT Wreckless was not alone in the A Class competition at the NSL Championship 2010.

Four young ladies from Texas (Angelee Jones - Center Outside, Kara Latimer - Tail, Lori Mitchell - Center Inside, Marian Sparks - Point) and videographer Jason Scarf had also made their way to DeLand for the 4-way competition at SkyQuest 2010 in November and competed for Hot Flash.

It was not the first visit for Lori Mitchell who flew the Center Inside slot for another Hot Flash lineup at the NSL Championship 2009. She wanted to go back to DeLand for this event, but it was not so easy this year.

Teams in Texas had only one opportunity this year to participate in the NSL Network. Hot Flash competed in the Rookie Class at the Dallas Super Cup and qualified for NSL 2010 medals and trophies.

The team then stepped up into the A Class competition at the NSL Championship and still beat their own Rookie Class average (3.0) easily.

The 6.8 average was in fact the highest Hot Flash meet average of all six Rookie Class meets in 2009 and the two meets this year.

Hot Flash had no chance to keep up with GT Wreckless, and this was surely not the purpose of the trip to DeLand.

Hot Flash was out for a fun 4-way competition and meet experience, and parts of the new NSL-TV clip on YouTube show that the fun lovers from Texas achieved this goal.

The record average and a lot of fun during the meet actually worked very well together.

The video also shows Lori Mitchell in her Center Inside slot for Hot Flash in the Rookie Class 2009 and in the A Class 2010.

Two A Class rounds at the NSL Championship this year had Rookie Class sequences. The other seven rounds included seven of the eight A Class blocks.

Hot Flash of 2010 was still competing in the Rookie Class at the Dallas Super Cup in August. One Hot Flash member was not available for the meet in Dallas, and the alternate had only a total of 59 jumps at that time. However, Kara Latimer reported that her team had a great time:

"One of our regular team mates was not able to attend, and we jumped with Jodi. She had 59 jumps prior to the event, so we competed in the Rookie Class and had a ball. Everyone was excited to see someone competing with so few jumps."

Hot Flash had the NSL Championship in mind as the final goal of the 2010 season and continued with training on some weekends. The team members also attended a wind tunnel training camp together. Kara Latimer said that Hot Flash was very happy with the results of the 2010 season: "We planned to prove the importance and relevance of national competition at our level, and we have greatly improved our flying skills during this training season."

The great performance and lots of fun at the NSL Championship concluded this year much to the liking of the Hot Flash members.
