Did You Know...

... that Hannah Betts is the US Center Inside in Dubai?

Poll is re-opened after the first votes
posted Dec 27th, 2010 - Yesterday's first preview of the Dubai Championship 2011 covered the female 4-way event and the US lineup that will compete in January.

A correction note from the west coast came shortly after the article was posted and pointed out that Spaceland Blue's Center Inside Brianne Thompson would not compete in Dubai. Hannah Betts will take the driver's seat and work the center together with Christy Frikken.

The situation between Aerokart Deep Blue and the US team was interesting enough without the correction. The new lineup gives it an additional twist and makes the upcoming competition in the female 4-way category even more exciting.

Hannah Betts knows her slot very well. She was the Center Inside for Bodyflight Storm, the 4-way world champions of 2008 in IPC's female category. The UK team with Hannah Betts beat Fastrax Blue with Christy Frikken in Maubeuge 2008 by one point and France by five points.

Bodyflight Storm attended five meets in 2008 before winning the gold medals in Maubeuge. The first one was the World Challenge 2008 at Bodyflight Bedford. NSL-TV found the videos of Storm's indoor competition in the archives, and the audience can see how Hannah Betts used to drive the Storm engine.

Three of the Storm meets in 2008 were in California. Dan BC was the team's coach, and Storm used the meet opportunities of the Southern California Skydiving League to collect meet experiences for the 2008 lineup.

With Perris Jimani at the NSL Championship 2008
Hannah Betts liked it in California and Dan BC's home turf in Perris. She eventually moved to California and left the UK opportunities and gold medal experiences behind. She began to take coaching jobs in Perris and made herself a home on the west coast.

In November 2008, she helped Perris Jimani's Jim Earman to win the team's 2nd set of gold medals at the NSL Championship 2008. She continued with her coaching jobs in 2009 and 2010 and resisted the temptation to join a new UK lineup and compete at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010. Team Bodyflight won the silver medals for the United Kingdom this year.

Skipping the World Meet in Menzelinsk was crucial for Hannah Betts' competitive future in the USA. She is now eligible to compete for a US lineup at IPC events, and the Dubai Championship is the first one for her. The Center Inside position for Hannah Betts in Dubai puts each player in the "A Slot", and the US team will surely be very competitive with her. The Aerokart Deep Blue members remember Hannah Betts, as well...
