Did You Know...

... that Prostejov is again the center of a lot of action in July 2011?

Jan Klapka with his Bad Boyz and fans
posted Dec 28th, 2010 - Jan Klapka, founder of the Czech Republic Skydiving League, has announced his 2011 schedule, and the event locations bring back memories of the World Cup of Formation Skydiving 2009 in Prostejov. The host dropzone of the World Cup 2009 will provide its first-class facilities for the Czech 4-way league the first time next year.

Bad Boyz member Jan Klapka brought international attention to 4-way competition in his country when he joined the NSL Network with five AAA Class teams in 2005. The Czech league is now well established, the World Cup 2009 was a great success, and Jan Klapka opens a 16-foot wind tunnel in Prague in March 2011.

NSL-TV found great footage of the World Cup 2009 in the archives, and the audience has the opportunity to go back in time and visit the skydiving center in Prostejov, including the great Fun Flag action at the World Cup.

There is a good reason to review the dropzone activities. Prostejov is not only hosting the July meet of the Czech Skydiving League 2011 season, the event is also a part of the CYPRES 20-year anniversary celebrations.

Airtec, German manufacturer of the first and original automatic electronic opening device, is hosting three big skydiving parties to celebrate the anniversary, and one of those events takes place in Prostejov in July 2011. Skydive Carolina is hosting the event in the USA (May 31 - June 5).

Prostejov was a great place for the World Cup 2009, as it is located near Prague in the center of Europe, and it will be easy to get there for the visitors of the CYPRES Anniversary Boogie and the 4-way teams. This event will be followed immediately by the World Cup 2011 in Germany.

World Cup 2009 in Prostejov
Jan Klapka will complete his mission next year. The 2011 season of the Czech Republic Skydiving League will offer all four competition classes for the first time. He had only the five AAA Class teams in 2005, which all came back in 2006, together with a few additional teams.

He added the Rookie Class in 2007 and focused on recruiting more 4-way teams and competitors at the grassroot level. It was a very successful move for a country with a small skydiving community. Three Rookie Class teams competed at each of the four meets of the regular season. Eventually, the Rookie Class was also sanctioned by the Czech association and applied at the national championships.

The A Class was added in 2008 to offer the Rookie Class teams of 2007 a new challenge. The A Class was also sanctioned and then applied at the national championships of 2008. The Rookie Class teams of 2007 and A Class teams of 2008 then moved up into the new AA Class in 2009.

AAA Class awards at the Czech Nationals 2010
This year, Jan Klapka enjoyed watching the Rookie Class teams of 2007 compete in the AAA Class competition with the complete IPC dive pool. He did not have any A Class teams in 2009 and did not need the AA Class category in 2010. The Czech teams competed in the AAA Class, A Class and the Rookie Class in 2010.

The 2011 season of the Czech Republic Skydiving League will offer all four NSL competition classes. The Czech teams will have the opportunity to get familiar early enough with their specific dive pools and the block techniques.

Jan Klapka informed the NSL News that the new wind tunnel in Prague will open its doors for team training in March. This will give the Czech teams enough time to get ready for the first competition in May. Jan Klapka thinks that there is a good chance to see three Czech teams in each of the four competition classes this year.
