Did You Know...

... that ISB Air is on the way to Raeford?

NSL Talk with ISB Air
posted Feb 3rd, 2011 - The NSL News mentioned earlier that the German national 4-way team ISB Air currently trains in DeLand. It was a good opportunity to meet the new lineup, and the team accepted the invitation for a live NSL Talk.

Goal was to include videos of the training camp, especially of the new blocks that the NSL News has recently introduced. ISB Air was still experimenting with the technique for the new Block 13 when the training was interrupted by inclement weather.

New team member Petra van Overveld had just begun to put the videos together for the NSL News when the German delegation decided to pack up for a quick trip to North Carolina and some windtunnel training at Paraclete XP. The ISB Air footage will be presented later.

Skytrax at the NSL Championship 2010
The NSL News will follow the same route north on Friday morning for the live coverage of the Paraclete XP Indoor Skydiving Championships 2011. The German teams will be on the way back to DeLand when the NSL News is heading the other way.

The three original ISB Air members (Sarah Hajooze, Anne Heinrich, Pia Weingart) are visiting Florida for the first time, while Petra van Overveld trained in DeLand the last time in November 2010 and then competed at the NSL Championship 2010 with the international Skytrax lineup.

Coach Solly Williams mentioned a few days ago that the new lineup is very talented and has the potential to catch up with the top female teams in the world very soon. In fact, the German team was not that far away at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010. Only eight points separated ISB Air from the US team Spaceland Blue in 3rd place.

Female 4-way medalists at the World Meet 2010 in Menzelinsk
Coach Solly Williams and the ISB Air members make it no secret that it is their goal to catch up with the very top level of female 4-way competition. The chances are not bad. France has a new lineup with two new members. There are no news yet from the United Kingdom of a new and strong female 4-way lineup.

US team Alpha Armada did very well at the Dubai Championship 2011. However, Perris Fury's Center Outside Christy Frikken pushed the team to the 20-average level and will not be available from here on.

Germany has never won a medal in the modern age of Formation Skydiving competition, which may be defined by the current dive pool system that was created in 1984. ISB Air will come back to DeLand in March and have the first serious test at the Shamrock Showdown 2011. That's when the new French lineup will post the first outdoor scores. Both teams then continue at the World Challenge 2011.
