Did You Know...

... that only Top 10 team SDC Rhythm XP goes back to Bedford with the same lineup?

Day off for NMP-PCH Hayabusa
posted Mar 14th, 2011 - There were no new arrivals today in DeLand, and the teams that are currently training for the Shamrock Showdown 2011 had another beautiful day with perfect jumping conditions.

New video footage features a few of NMP-PCH Hayabusa's training jumps today. Hayabusa is right on target with the training schedule despite the late arrival after airline problems with the luggage. The Belgian team took off the jumpsuits today and will not re-dress until Wednesday morning. Tuesday is a day off.

Other new information came from the United Kingdom where Bodyflight Bedford pepares the facilities for the next major event, the World Challenge 2011. The latest update of the team list confirmed another record breaking participation this year. The NSL News counted a total of 59 teams. The 2010 event had the highest number so far with 52 teams. That's history.

Only Chris Farina back in Bedford: Perris Fury
The complete list of teams is posted on the NSL event page of the World Challenge 2011, and several teams at the Shamrock Showdown have scheduled the indoor competition at Bodyflight Bedford as the next stop this year.

In fact, ten teams (NMP-PCH Hayabusa, Aerodyne Aerokart Maubeuge, Arizona Airspeed, SDC Rhythm XP, SonicNutz, Bodyflight Voluntas, Bodyflight Atlas, Fast Air, Aerodyne Deep Blue Defenders, ISB Air) will travel from Florida to the United Kingdom on different routes. They all have to be there two weeks after the conclusion of the Shamrock.

The other 49 teams will mostly be teams from Europe, with one exception. Perris Jimani is another US team that will compete in Bedford this year. Chris Farina is the player coach, as Perris Fury is obviously not ready yet to train or compete with the complete lineup. Christopher Irwin is currently filling the Tail slot in training, while Uli Steuwe recovers from his shoulder surgery.

Same lineup as in 2010: SDC Rhythm XP
Only two of the Top 12 at the World Challenge 2010 (Perris Fury, Paraclete XP4) have not signed up for this year's event. The other ten teams will try to score and place better than last year. Five of those ten teams (NMP-PCH Hayabusa, Aerodyne Aerokart, Arizona Airspeed, SDC Rhythm XP, Aerodyne Deep Blue Defenders) will compete this week at the Shamrock.

A very interesting aspect of the World Challenge Top 10 teams is the fact that only one of them comes back with exactly the same lineup - SDC Rhythm XP. The personnel changes of the three top contenders (NMP-PCH Hayabusa, Aerodyne Aerokart, Arizona Airspeed) and the Deep Blue Defenders have been well covered by the NSL News. It is quite amazing that all other Top 12 teams of 2010 have personnel changes, as well.

XL competes with Andy Delk this year. Aerokart PCs, the other half of the French 8-way lineup, has turned into Maubeuge NPC Aerokart and comes back with Julien Olek, Clément Martin-Saint-Leon and two new members. Satori continues without Katie Woods. Kaktus Hunter has only two members of the past years (Egor Gusev, Andrew Kharitonov). Team Bodyflight competes with two 2010 members (Amanda Kemp, Sarah Cannon). The NSL News will provide more details soon.
