Fast Air from Ireland had another highlight in the last round of the first competition day, as the 12-pointer even tied Bodyflight Voluntas' score in Round 5.
The Irish attendance and performance at the Shamrock Showdown did not only catch the NSL News attention. The NSL News had mentioned earlier that it was the first time that a team from Ireland competed at the Shamrock Showdown. Fast Air gave the event finally a real meaning, as the name relates to St. Patrick's Day, and there was a lot of green color in the conference room for the opening ceremony.
He also pointed out that the World Challenge 2011 has a very special Irish aspect, as well. Three teams from the green island will compete at Bodyflight Bedford, which makes it the first time ever that Ireland is fielding so many teams at a competition outside of the homeland.
The NSL News mentioned earlier that Fast Air is one of the nine teams that travel from DeLand to Bedford within two weeks. Two other teams will travel from Ireland to the United Kingdom this week.
The second Irish team at the World Challenge 2011 trained over the winter months at the Airkix windtunnel in Manchester and was coached by Satori/XL member John McIver. KinetiX entered the team's first indoor competition at Airkix in March 2011 and won the first place in the A Class along with a season-long sponsorship. It was not a live event, and the KinetiX members are now looking forward to the live atmosphere at the World Challenge 2011.
Last not least, Ronan Whelan, Stephan Ross, Gavin Brookfield and Edel Carberry will compete for Ireland in the Rookie Class competition under Noo Your Other Left. Each competition class at the World Challenge has an Irish team, and the NSL News will follow the green action this weekend at Bodyflight Bedford.
