... that last weekend's Scandinavian leaderboard is almost complete?

Best skydiving facilities in Finland: Jämijärvi
posted Apr 25th, 2011 - Last weekend's Scandinavian leaderboard is almost complete. FAI Judge and Meet Director Jukka Olkkonen sent an update with the scores from Finland, while more scores from the Viking Challenge in Perris are still expected to be added.

Jukka Olkkonen reported bad luck with the logistics, which explains the low participation and scores for only two rounds. He said that the participation at the event was generally great and that the weather was perfect.

He added that the facilities in Jämijärvi, host of last weekend's event, are actually the best ones for skydiving in Finland. However, the Cessna Caravan had engine troubles and did not want to start flying. All skydivers on site had to jump from a Cessna 206, which caused turnaround times of approx. six hours. These conditions did not allow for more teams and more than two rounds in the 4-way competition. Jukka Olkkonen and the Finnish skydivers took it easy: "But again we had a good party..."

Back with the same lineup: Golden Lockpins
The two teams in Finland that completed their two rounds under those circumstances came back from last year's 4-way season in Finland. Both teams have had a casual agenda in the past and several different players in their lineups from meet to meet.

The same counts for one of the three teams from Norway who competed in the A Class last weekend. M.O.I.S.T player coach Kjetil "Cookie" Nordin reported that his lineup has two new members this year, while the Golden Lockpins have the same team members as in 2010.

He added that all Norwegian A Class teams set new team record scores in the first round. The Norwegian A Class highscore was 18 until 2007. The Kentoekki Frajd Pengvins scored a 21-pointer in 2009 and copied it in 2010. It is still standing as a the Norwegian A Class highscore. The winner of the Viking Challenge will receive the legendary Bastarðr, a sword from the old Viking ages. There is one sword for each class. The winners also get traditional viking beverages, as Kjetil "Cookie" Nordin finished his update.
