Did You Know...

... that Shannon Pilcher beat Solly Williams by one point?

Germany/Denmark vs. Sweden/Sweden
posted May 5th, 2011 - The International Bunny Meet has created the content for three different stories so far, and the NSL News still has to go back to the event one more time.

There was another interesting and quite exciting part of the competition that did not take place in freefall. The place of this kind of action was on the ground, mostly in the area between the creeper pad and the boarding area.

The four teams that competed in DeLand were split up into two different groups. The two teams from Sweden, Bardagi and CADO, were naturally closer to each other, and they also shared the same coach, Shannon Pilcher. Final Four DeLand from Germany and Bodyflight Factum from Denmark were driven by Solly "Schleifer" Williams.

Coaching battle at the International Bunny Meet
Solly Williams is also in charge of Bodyflight Atlas who trained and competed in Perris at the same time. However, the second Danish team was only indirectly involved and completed just one round on the weekend, due to bad weather conditions.

The special coaching competition was so interesting because the four teams were engaged in two different and very exciting battles: Bardagi (Shannon Pilcher) vs. Final Four (Solly Williams) and CADO (Shannon Pilcher) vs. Bodyflight Factum (Solly Williams).

Solly Williams had a 1-point lead throughout the first two rounds, as Final Four kept up with Bardagi while Factum was one point ahead in the other race. The situation was different two rounds later. Bardagi was now ahead of the Germans and CADO had caught up with Factum. Shannon Pilcher now had a 1-point lead.

Winner by one point after tie break: Shannon Pilcher
It became worse for Solly Williams when Final Four and Factum both lost Round 5. Shannon Pilcher's teams were ahead in the two races with only one more round to go, and the coach was up by a total of six points. It did not look too good for the German/Danish combination.

It was a real grande finale when Final Four and Factum both fought back in Round 6. The Germans won the round by two points and the Danes even by three. Factum had turned the meet around at the last moment and won this race for Solly Williams.

Final Four was too far behind to catch Bardagi, and the coaching race ended up tied, with one victory and one second place on both sides. The total of all scores was actually the tie breaker. Bardagi won by two points and Factum by one point, which put Shannon Pilcher one point ahead at the end. Even a small field can create great competition...
