Those kind of projects happen all over the USA regions and in several other countries, as well. One of them has been the "Project Home Team" that the NSL News introduced with the story on 4 February 2011. It offers skydivers in Arizona and visitors fun events, with the opportunity to learn and improve individual skills.
Arizona Frenzy members Jocelyn Bernatchez, Annie Peterson and Ian Mackenzie have been running the PHT events in Eloy, and many of the participants of the January camp also competed later at the Valentine's Meet 2011. Arizona Frenzy recently hosted another PHT camp, which also turned out very successfully.
The turnout included several local teams who are training as part of Project Home Team, which is also managed by Arizona Frenzy. The project aims at boosting participation at this year's USPA Nationals in Eloy.
Jocelyn Bernatchez reported that other participants also included Skydive Arizona locals and visitors from as near as Red Rock Skydiving in northern Arizona and from as far as Skydive Minnesota.
Michael Hotz and Jerry Gleim were familiar with the concept of the project and took the player coach slots in the other lineups, while Frenzy member Jocelyn Bernatchez organized the loads and coached those groups from the ground. Despite a wind hold in the afternoon most "Teams 4 A Day" were still able to make five jumps that day.
Jocelyn Bernatchez said that anyone interested in learning about 4-way or "bushing up on their skills" is welcome to participate in these events. 4-way teams are created based on skill level, and each group makes 5 - 6 jumps. There is no fee for the project events, just the cost of a jump ticket and the shared costs for the videographer. The next 4-way event is scheduled for Saturday June 18th. This "Team 4 a Day" event will double as the next meet of the Arizona Skydiving League.
