Did You Know...

... that the Bad Boyz enjoy the 4-way road with a new team member?

Czech Rookie Class teams last weekend
posted Jun 28th, 2011 - Last weekend's leaderboard includes six teams from the Czech Republic who all completed the 6-round meet.

League Director Jan Klapka reported that there would have been two more teams if some competitors did not have to cancel due to health problems.

The Czech Republic Skydiving League produced a new Rookie Class team with new 4-way competiors last year.

Hvezdy came back in the Rookie Class at the seond meet in the Czech Republic this year and once again posted some impressive Rookie Class scores. Hvezdy is still on top of the overall Rookie Class leaderboard at the moment.

Best of Relative could not keep up with the Hvezdy scores and tied the team's own 5.3 average at the season opener in May exactly. Both Czech Rookie Class teams suffered a 1-pointer, which lowered last weekend's meet average.

Enjoying the 4-way road: Bad Boyz with new lineup last weekend
A new era has begun for the Czech Bad Boyz. Jan Klapka (Tail), Václav Prokeš (Point), Juraj Sonlajtner (CI) and Jarda Smitka (CO), with alternate Tomáš Beroušek and videographers Jan Habìtín and Mirek Slánský, trained and competed together since 2005.

The Bad Boyz trained like a serious team throughout the first five years and came dangerously close to the top team of the past years in the Czech Republic, the SkyService/SkyWalkers.

In fact, the Bad Boyz won the national championships for the first time in 2010 when the defending champions did not compete. However, the Bad Boyz had slowed down with their efforts at this point in time but still enjoyed attending the meets.

Team founder Jan Klapka was busy building the new wind tunnel in Prague, and the operation still keeps him very busy now that the tunnel is running.

The NSL News had reported the opening of the new wind tunnel with an earlier story.

Jan Klapka still keeps the Bad Boyz going. Original team member Juraj Sonlajtner has stepped back after all those years, and the Bad Boyz are now in a re-building phase. The new Bad Boy is Tomas Pardubicky. He was Jan Klapka's AFF student four years ago and became a friend of the Bad Boys.

The remaining team members offered Tomas Pardubicky the open slot when Juraj Sonlajtner stepped back, and he agreed instantly. He was a freeflyer before, and the Bad Boyz are now training hard with him in the new wind tunnel to get him up to speed on his belly.

The option of intensive indoor training will surely help the progression quickly, and the Bad Boyz improved their average significantly (6.5 - 8.2) between May and June.

Jan Klapka does not look too much at the scoring progression. He knows that it may be a long way back to the 15-average level of 2009, and his team enjoys other parts of the team business just as much, as he explained:

"You know, it's the fun on the road that is the actual objective..." His Bad Boyz have been a great example for enjoying the 4-way road.
