Did You Know...

... that the Pro Team wins in Finland with new member Tony Nyholm?

Pro Team between 2006 and 2011
posted Jul 21st, 2011 - The future of Finland's national 4-way team, the Pro Team, was open after finishing as the unofficial Scandinavian champion at last year's World Championship of Formation Skydiving in Menzelinsk. The Pro Team had plans only until the world meet in Russia.

This week, the team name appears again on the leaderboard of Finland's national championships, and the Pro Team is far ahead of all other teams in 1st place. The 16.4 average after seven rounds is not even close to the 19.5 average in Menzelinsk. However, the competition draw at the world meet included a sequence with only random formations, and all other scores were between 14 and 17 points.

The Pro Team has a new team member, and Tony Nyholm in the Tail slot will be glad to see that his new team keeps up with last year's scores. All Pro Team scores this week are also between 14 and 17 points, plus an 18-pointer in Round 6 and a 20-pointer in Round 5.

Tony Nyholm at the World Cup 2002
Tony Nyholm fills the Tail slot for Laura Miettinen who was an original Pro Team member since 2006. It took four years until the Pro Team eventually defeated the Tigers who were the top team in Finland for years.

The Tigers have changed their lineups over the years, as well, and they competed at this year's national championships with the new 2011 lineup, as well.

The new Tail is not new to 4-way competition at all. In fact, he is probably one of the most experienced skydivers in Finland. He competed with his team FC Moukku at the World Cup 2002 in Spain and finished with a 12.4 average by then. He became a Tarzanelli member later, another team that is also on this week's leaderboard from Finland.

The Pro Team has another new member. Petri Mastola is the alternate on camera. He was the head of Finland's delegation in Menzelinsk last year. Videographer Mikko Kajala said that the Pro Team has no other serious plans yet after defending Finland's 4-way title, which may change later.

In the meantime, the Pro Team members have been helping many other teams in Finland to improve their performances, including at tunnel camps in Bedford.
