Did You Know...

... that VIVA includes a 4way world champion of 1983 and an 8way world champion of 2010?

M8Trix with player coach Gary Smith
posted Aug 14th, 2011 - NSL-TV continues with the 8way coverage of the World Cup 2011. The videos of Round 2 have been uploaded, and the penalties are added to the leaderboard.

Not much happened in Round 2. Aerodyne Maubeuge recovered after the 2-point loss to the Golden Knights in Round 1 and tied the US score in Round 2.

All other scores were pretty much in the order of the final rankings. The Brit Chicks suffered another point deduction and were now three points behind the German team Suedwest after two rounds. This would change soon.

Suedwest also lost a point in the same round, as well as Netherlands' new 8way team M8Trix. Gary Smith has a player coach position in the Dutch 8way lineup and can be seen in the Center Outside position with the exit count.

Brit Chicks 8way lineup at the World Cup 2011
The Brit Chicks are now also busy at the UK Nationals 2011. The first weekend does not include the 8way competition, which is scheduled a week later. However, two Brit Chicks lineups also compete in 4way.

The first one competes in the AAA Class and is currently in 11th place of 17 teams with a 12.3 average after six rounds.

The Brit Chikkos compete in the AA Class and have the same 12.3 average after six rounds. It seems like they are still perfectly in synch even when they are separated from each other.

The Brit Chikkos are in the middle of a hot race for the 3rd place at the moment. Five teams are within striking distance of the bronze medal position, and Satori Red in 2nd place is far from being safe. Full Stop is miles away in 1st place.

Martial Ferre and Marcel Aeby
The 8way field at the World Cup 2011 also included a guest team. The FAI/IPC rules generally do not allow the participation of guest teams. However, the situation of the Swiss team VIVA was different and allowed IPC President and jury president in Saarlouis, Graeme Windsor from Australia, to rule on site for an exception.

VIVA had orderly and timely registered a complete lineup for Switzerland at the World Cup 2011. Bad luck and injuries hit the 8way team right before the competition, even though they have a lineup with enough alternates. The Swiss team had no other alternatives any longer and asked their coach, French reigning 8way world champion Martial Ferre, to fill an open slot.

They presented their case to the jury, and Graeme Windsor agreed to the guest team status. The VIVA lineup also includes the currently longest standing Formation Skydiving competitor in the world.

Marcel Aeby was a member of the Swiss team Blue Magic who won the 4way gold medals at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving in South Africa 1983. A 4way world champion of 1983 together with an 8way world champion of 2010 in the VIVA lineup - take a good look at the videos...
