Did You Know...

... that there was a serious slot scramble last weekend at Cross Keys?

Dirt Slots in action
posted Aug 25th, 2011 - Last weekend's leaderboard is not complete yet, as scores from the Carolina Skydiving League are still missing. Two teams from Finland are still on top in both categories after scores from Germany, Finland and Cross Keys have been posted.

In the meantime, Ireland had the natonal championships, and teams in Italy are in full swing, as well. The NSL News will follow up on those events very soon.

Two teams from the MidAtlantic Skydiving League are probably glad that they were in the air last weekend. Hurricane Irene is heading straight at Cross Keys, and there will most likely not be any parachute in the air this weekend. MASL Director Dennis Miller provided a summary of the 2-team competition last weekend.

Serious slot scramble for AARP
We had a light turnout Saturday for the meet, but it probably worked out for the best, as there was a shortage of videographers.

Dirty Slots, with Mariaelena Rodriguez, Fritz Carr, and Jocelyn Lewis returned with Garrison Kingsley. He replaced Rob Fields who flew as a player coach for Dirty Slots at the last MASL 4way Rookie Class Scrambles. Dirty Slots moved up into the A Class this time to compete with the other Cross Keys team AARP.

As luck would have it, AARP videographer Barry Bichler had a camera failure after the first round. One of the CK staff videographers tried to step up and fill the video slot but had difficulties filming 4-way for the first time. Barry Bichler returned after two rounds with a new camera from home only to have a cutaway on the very next jump.

Cross Keys competitors at an earlier tunnel camp
While Barry waited for the Atlantic City Power Company to retrieve his canopy from the power lines, AARP continued the meet with Stephanie Vaughan moving from Point to Video. New Teiwaz member Marty Schneider filled the Center Outside slot for a round. Stephanie did a good video job, and we were able to judge the remaining videos. In the end, Dirty Slots won another meet with a combination of good effort and a little bit of video related luck.

Dirty Slots and AARP now continue with a joint effort. Mariaelena Rodriguez and Fritz Carr have scheduled a tunnel camp with SDC Rhythm XP in September, together with Dennis and Rita Miller. Goal for this combination is to get ready for the next step up into the AA Class competition next year.
