Did You Know...

... that French 8way champions of the late 80s and early 90s reunited and won?

French 8way team mates in 1990
posted Aug 31st, 2011 - The NSL News covered the French Nationals 2011 with the story on 12 August 2011. The two French national B-Teams took the first two places, Rebootizer Monaco won the bronze medals after two first places at the previous Coupe de France meets in 2011 and after a battle with the Air Force team from Nice.

Rebootizer Monaco is the 4way team that has been representing the generation of French top competitors in the 80s and 90s. Didier Boignon, Jeff Ronzevalle and Franck Vazille competed in 8way by then and won numerous national championships and international medals at that time. They decided to come back in 4way several years ago and have had a very visible presence ever since in the team's famous red jumpsuits.

The three former 8way champions now decided to really go back to the roots and recruited other former team mates to compete at this year's national championships in 8way, which was held in Vichy on August 10-14. Pierre "Titou" Auvray, Franz Jardel and Yves Negrié joined forces with the three Rebootizer 8way champions of the 80s and 90s, Stephane Mattoni and Aerodyne Deep Blue Defender Laurence Hervé completed the 8way lineup.

Three other teams signed up for the competition in the Open Class, and Rebootizer Monaco's 8way lineup won the national gold medals with a 12.1 average.

Reunion with gold medals at the French Nationals 2011
The Rebootizer Monaco 8way veterans, now with an average age of 44 years and a total of almost 100,000 jumps all together outscored Generation GO-X by seven points after nine rounds. Generation GO-X had a very colorful lineup, as well.

Two reigning 8way world champions of 2010 (Thomas Perrin-Gachadoat, Arnaud Mille) and Paul "Polo" Grisoni, French 8way expert of the late 90s and early 2000s, guided five 4way experts through the French 8way Nationals.

Thierry Boiteux is a French 4way world champion of 1999. Pérrine Sanchez is a current Aerodyne Deep Blue Defender, as well, and Stephanie Texier is the team's alternate who also trains and competes in the French CISM lineup.

Florian Denonfoux and Isabelle Seel have been members of French national B-Teams in the past years. Arnaud Camproux completed the lineup, and Pierre Roinel was filming this 8way team.

It seems as if the Rebootizer Monaco 8way experience outlasted youth, talent and technique in this case... Rebootizer Jeff Ronzevalle enjoyed the special reunion at the national championship: "It was such a nice experience to jump again with our former team partners, after a 25-year old and long lasting friendship..."
