Did You Know...

... that the MidAtlantic Rookies had a true scramble at Cross Keys last weekend?

Cross Keys NRG at the USPA Nationals 2009
posted Sep 7th, 2011 - Freefall Adventures and MidAtlantic Skydiving League joined forces for the second time this year to offer Rookie Class competitors the opportunity to learn more about 4way and make some fun skydives at Cross Keys. Once again, host Freefall Adventures provided free slots for coaches and videographers at the September meet last weekend.

MASL Director Dennis Miller remembered that the MASL community had learned at the last MASL Scrambles in June that tunnel experience can be just as valuable as jump numbers. This experience lead to the conclusion that the MASL pool of participants was fairly even in talent, and the organizers decided to throw all the names in a helmet and draw them at random for a true scramble.

Mariaelena Rodriguez: Beer after not winning a meet...?
Former Cross Keys NRG members Bob Barnes and Scott Macario, bronze medal winners at the USPA Nationals 2009 in the AA/Intermediate Class, came out this time to help as player coaches, together with Dawn Pavlu and new Teiwaz members Marty Schneider and Rob Fields.

Dennis Miller reported that there was a shortage of videographers again: "We took a chance on Matt Vasapollo flying video for the first time. He had a fantastic debut and provided us with six great videos for team Danger, and now he owes beer..."

He added that a few exit funnels were the difference between the winning team Door Jam and the other lineups. As a result, the MASL September meet was the first time in 2011 that Mariaelena Rodriguez, competing for Suck it up Cupcake this time, was not on the top of the leaderboard: "We're still arguing whether or not that's a beer meet for her..."

The results are also hinting that you cannot train exits in the windtunnel...
