Did You Know...

... that Denmark finished the 2011 competition season with the bluest skies ever?

Awards at the DFU Cup 2011
posted Sep 25th, 2011 - The Danish Skydiving Federation (DFU) completed the annual DFU Cup this weekend. It is a 4way competition where experienced skydivers jump together as player coaches with newcomers. Four lineups were formed this time and used the A Class dive pool and competition draw. They were fortunate enough to be rewarded with what NSL correspondent Kjetil Nordin of Perris Blitz called the "possibly bluest skies Denmark has ever seen".

The competition took place during the annual Skyvan Boogie at Maribo. The famous Pink Skyvan flew non stop, as both competitors and other fun jumpers made sure to take advantage of the great weather. All six rounds were completed by noon on Sunday.

Team Chute Me, who placed 5th at this year's national championship, had two members in the four A Class lineups. Tail Rasmus Ramsbøl and Point Dennis Milandt guided the teams Det Tar Kun 5 Min and Generation 2 as player coaches. John Petersen of Bodyflight Atlas took charge of the Satelites, while the Fatboys had a more even distribution of skills. However, Nathalie Kressner, reigning Danish A Class champion, still contrasted the other team members regarding the team name...

Rasmus Ramsbøl won the friendly internal Chuite Me battle with his team mate Dennis Milandt's lineup by placing 2nd with Det Tar Kun 5 Min while Generation 2 finished in 4th place. The Satellites snatched the 3rd place with the 5-pointer highscore in Round 5, after being tied with Generation 2 at the end of the meet. The Satellites had a very strong second meet day.

Fatboys won the competition after posting highscores in all rounds except the first and last one. The Fatboys' 6-pointer in Round 5 was also the highscore of the meet and came after copying the Satellites' engineering around the Phalanx (Q) in the sequence. It eliminated an outfacing position that may create higher difficulties for lower experienced competitors, as Kjetil Nordin reported.

Fatboys member Nathalie Kressner has now won both meets in Denmark this year. Kjetil Nordin said that her talent and rapid progression has been noticed amongst competitors in Denmark: "It will be very exciting to see how far Nathalie wants to go in this sport."

He added that her team mate at the Danish Nationals, Jeppe Flyman, also impressed again with the 2nd place at the DFU Cup. His name is promising a great career...

Kjetil Nordin said that it was a great weekend in Denmark: "There was lots of jumping of every kind before the Scandinavian summer is coming to an end now, and a weekend like this one has been the best possible way to end the peak skydiving season."
